Very fruity and strong!

Great Wake & Bake variety. Very fruity pineapple aroma, smooth taste; the smoke is minty and chalky. PJ has easygoing, mellow, relaxing medicinal effects. If you notice the CBD is HIGHER than the THC, which means you can focus better, so great for the day time. A nice, "wake up" sativa. I found PJ relaxes my muscles and eases my pain well, and the effects are deep and last long. I love CBD!

Killer stuff. he is very powerful at 24% THC, very strong mineral aroma; #dank and pungent. Her smoke is very smooth and minty, but she does expand and I coughed a tad. She is a #Sativa that is great to wake up with; she totally cleared my Fibro fog, eased my #fibromyalgia pain, and loosened my locked muscles. I am able to concentrate and function; she is a great variety for #ADD/ADHD. She is a Sativa that calms, so would also be very good for #PTSD and #anxiety; she would be a great variety to ‘just #chill with’.

For when they placed it in their pipe, They began to dance around

Snowman is a GREAT Sativa, woke me up, cleared the head fog, and got me "in the zone". I had a great guitar practice session medicated by this frosty and delicious strain. The bouquet is lavender, and hangs out in the mineral and floral aroma spectrum. The aftertaste is a delicious mint! This medicine is a comfortable and pleasant smoke. She makes you smile like a good Sativa should. Great for mornings and day time, and mix with an Indica for the night time. Good for chilling, anxiety, pain, muscle relaxation and a few hundred other health issues.

Frosty the Snowman was a jolly happy soul
With crystals of trichomes and terpenes deep
Good medicine for your soul
Frosty the Snowman is the natural way
He was called Snowman but the patients
Know how she came to life one day
There must have been some magic in that sweet flower they found
For when they placed it in their pipe
They began to dance around

Good job, PYHTO. : )

Mellow, yet powerful and long lasting, good stuff!

The new strain I saw out today from PHYTO, the new kid on the block, came over my iPhone, and I love trying new strains, so I decided to give it a shot. Wow, I am glad I chose it. Facewreck Haze has a very strong bouquet, and she is on the chemical and dairy side of the aroma. I was thinking of maybe Chemdawg earlier in the day, and I find Facewreck Haze is somewhat similar, for it is spicy and peppery taste powerful lasts long, and works on all symptoms; and seems to me a nice, very well-balanced hybrid. Great for muscle issues and fibromyalgia, and for lowering your anxiety (chilling). The buzz is very mellow, and starts to creep and get stronger, so micro-dose with this delicious medicine. Great stuff, I am impressed! Keep growing PHYTO! I give it 2 bongs up, way up!

Ride the wave of relief...

After 40 years I finally got to try Maui Waui. She has a very muted aroma, and the taste is chalky, spicy and peppery; a very earthy tone. I coughed a bit when I smoked it in a pipe. Wow, she is very powerful, and goes to work quickly, and the Sativa head like effects are felt strongly. My head fog was cleared, and my headache gone, and my joint and muscle pain were eased too. She elates you, but she is very gentle, laid back day-on-the-beach effects. I felt very lucid and focused, and chilled. I recommend Maui Waui for pain, relaxation, and all sorts of health issues. I will catch this wave again sometime.

A creeper, but then BOOM....awesome meds!

I picked Lemon Skunk because I LOVE limonene, and the Skunk Indicas seem to relax my muscles well, one of the things your MEDICINE really needs to address to treat fibromyalgia effectively. And not damage your organs and/or kill you in the process is a nice added benefit.

She smells very mild for a skunk, and the taste is very mild and minty, but the exhale is powerful and expands, and becomes spicy and chalky. Lemon Skunk leaves a mInty, sweet after taste and is a very tasty and pleasant smoke.

After about 4-5 puffs and 15 minutes or so I was heavily medicated, and it relaxed my muscles, eased my pain, and cleared the head fog. I use cannabis to treat my fibromyalgia, and Lemon Skunk does it very well. I will be picking Lemon Skunk in the future for sure. Also treated my pain, ADD, and 17 other health issues also, lol. Stop by TWC and try LS today!

Head Trip takes you on a head trip alright....woosh. She is good for just about almost anything, really helped me relax, focus and put me in a sunnier disposition big time. She is pretty potent and I feel an Indica dominant strain, so best for home use, night time, chill time. You get the munchies big time. I felt energized later, and focused. Head Trip is a nice strain I will definitely try again. She smells like fruit, but tastes peppery, almost like a cross between Heavy Duty Frutti and Chemdawg. (but is not, just the aroma and flavor)

Great balance of THC and CBD

I am loving the THC/CBD 1:1 ratios in the varieties that are coming out recently, really helps you focus. A mild Sativa with a wonderful strawberry taste that helps with pain, not great in the muscle relaxant category, but a dash of relaxation. A very pleasant entourage effect, the THC/CBD ratio of 1:1 helps one maintain focus, and you really medicate. I would call this a good afternoon Sativa. 2 hours later I am very calm, this variety (strain) would be very good for anxiety issues. My muscles are relaxed a bit, there was a creeper effect on the Indica side. I would call this a Hybrid (they all are actually...lol) that is 90% Sativa and 10% Indica. Not great for muscle issues, but okay. Ask a staff member at TWC to let you sniff this wonderful little variety.

Tangie Dream

Tangle comes in these delicious, scrumptious dark-green nuggets, bristling with orange pistols and coated with a sheen of juicy cannabinoids and terpenes. This is a medicinal strain for sure.

Tangie is a Sativa-dominant hybrid that creeps up on you, and lays you down on a nice thick cloud of "Ahhhness" and leaves you in a dream-like state. The effects are mellow though, and the balanced and high CBD keeps your feet on the ground. The smoke is a tad harsh, but very pleasant aftertaste. This is a multilayered and multi-dimensional strains that is good for a wide variety of patents and health issues.

I will definitely trying Tangie again for my health needs such as muscle pain and stiffness, headache, all-over-ickiness or whatever.

Strong effects with a lucid head

Pinetrak comes in these humble-looking, small golden nuggets, and have a frosty coating of terpenes, and smells dank. Pinetrak looks to have a lot of terpenes and other botanical compounds, as well as the essential cannabinoids. Pinetrak impresses me with a decent level of CBD (2.2% or 20mg of CBD) The THC is very high at 20%. The bouquet is very strong, and first of course is the pine, then a floral blast, and then the nose is tickled by a sage and peppery zing. Pinetrak had a beautiful aroma.

Pinetrak is a great medicinal strain that has effects that run deep and strong, yet the CBD helps the head stay lucid and focused, and is a great day time medicine. Pinetrak is a creeper, and the effects get stronger as time goes by, as it seeps deep into your system. My fibromyalgia body/skin pain was eased. My "Fibro-fog" was cleared, and headache was gone. My joint inflammation was eased also. Pinetrak has a great Sativa side to it, and helps ease ADD and helps one focus. The Indica side is gentle, and release muscles subtly but effectively.

Pinetrak is best blended with a Sativa, like Sativa Afghani; or maybe a mellow Hybrid or Indica such as Pincher's Creek or Lost Coast Hashplant.

Honeydew this, Honeydew that!

Honeydew is a wonderful new strain from Abatin Wellness Center, and I picked up a wonderfully cared, spongy flower from Takoma Wellness Center. The flowers are a dark olive green, covered in yummy trichomes. Honeydew has a sour smell, dairy. The subtle bouquet also has a sugary, honeydew-like floral zing, with sage and fennel in the background.

The best thing about Honeydew, is that it is a "natural" 50/50 ratio of THC and CBD (6%/9%), the way nature intended. This balance assures I will not be spaced out and unable to function, and I can focus and do tasks, and not be all "Kush had me like..." Honeydew is a hybrid, right down the middle, and has very gentle, calming effects. Honeydew is great for head issues, especially migraines and headaches. It did help ease my muscle spasms. My fibromyalgia pain was eased, and it helped slow down my racing brain and helped me focus. It increases the appetite a lot, and I got the munchies big time. No dry mouth, a chalky, pleasant aftertaste. The effects went deep and last a long time, Honeydew is a great medicinal strain!

Best blended with Master Kush or an Indica, or maybe Sativa Afghani. Honeydew might go well with almost any strain.

Packs a powerful punch of Indica medicine

Goji OG comes in these dark green, glistening flowers covered with trichomes, and it doesn’t disappoint. The bouquet of Goji OG is a tingly, sage-like aroma, with a dash of vinegar. A dank, dairy aroma is there too.

Goji OG is an Indica dominant “hybrid”, but both strains that are crossed together, Nepali OG and Snow Lotus, are Indica or Indica-dominant, and is a very strong, medicinal strain. The smoke of Goji OG is an expanding smoke that releases an effervescent rush of medicine through the bloodstream, but has a very herb-like aftertaste and a wonderful smoke. I would liken Goji OG to the Master Kush strain. Goji OG is very potent, very Indica-like, and awesome for muscle and bones issues. The euphoric effects also help with the pain, and Goji OG works on head issues too. The uses of this medicine are wide, and probably treats 100s of health issues.

I will be snapping up Goji OG at Takoma Wellness Center for years to come, this is one of the best “new” DC strains I have tried in a while. It is a great substitute for when Master Kush or other Indicas are out, and best blended with Sativas like Sativa Afghani, Pincher’s Creek or Green Love Potion.

Get off the tracks! Boom!

Trainwreck Hybrid from Abatin Wellness is one of the “new” recent strains that have come out in DC, and was at Takoma Wellness Canter today. As I scanned the glass case of all the medicine, the cured flowers of Trainwreck Hybrid looked so wonderful I was drawn towards them instantly. They are picture worthy. (see my pic!) The TWC staff let me smell the bouquet and check them out, and I was sold. The flowers had long, olive green fan leaves curling up towards a light green calyx with white pistils, and had a thick coat of terpenes. Trainwreck Hybrid’s flowers not only look awesome, they are glistening with resins!

Trainwreck Hybrid’s bouquet at first has a strong sour, dairy smell, with a spicy sage and pepper zing, then a floral cherry and vinegar aroma rounds it out. The bouquet is delicious. The taste of Trainwreck Hybrid is soft and mild, with a fruity aftertaste. Trainwreck Hybrid is a nice smoke.

I felt the effects of Trainwreck Hybrid pretty quickly, hitting me in the head first, and radiating out the body helping me calm down, and it eased my fibromyalgia issues like “fibro-fog”, headache, and joint pain. My muscles relaxed, and it slowed own my thoughts. Trainwreck Hybrid is great relaxation medicine. About 5 minutes in you figure out where you get the name from: There is a “boom” moment where your head feels euphoric, and there is a rush of medicine through your bloodstream. This is a “creeper” that comes screaming out of a tunnel and BOOM. I felt a strong Indica-like effect and I was very relaxed and medicated. I would recommend this for night time only. I did feel focused and my head was clear, no “couch-lock” with this strain. The effects of Trainwreck Hybrid seem to get stronger and deeper, spreading it’s medicinal effects all over the body, and is a great “all around” strain.

I would recommend Trainwreck Hybrid for autoimmune disorders, pain, head issues, anxiety, and even muscle-related heath issues. It relaxes well and would be good for insomnia. The euphoric effects make it great for depression and PTSD too. This strain is probably great for all sorts of issues. I would call this an Indica-dominant strain, with a subtle, but strong, Sativa tinge. Check out this and other new medicinal strains coming out almost monthly now from the now 5 cultivators (up from 2!) at Takoma Wellness Center.

Best mixed with: Master Kush, OG Fuel (New strain!), Blue Dream and other Indicas. It might go well with Sativa Afghani or other Sativas also.

Blue Dream Trim "Sugar Leaves"! - Not your Daddy's Fan leaves.

I think the fan leaves that get trimmed off the flower, hence the name "trim", doesn't get enough respect in the cannabis world. Maybe because the DC cultivators are developing better flowers so the fan leaves, or as I like to call them "Sugar Leaves", are better too. I liked the price of the Blue Dream Trim, aka "Sugar Leaves", grown by Holistic Remedies and sold at Takoma Wellness Center, and I have always loved Blue Dream flower, so I picked some up not just to make edibles with, but to smoke as medicine.

Blue Dream Trim smells very musky like it's Mother, and the effects are very quick and deep. BDT is a very mild smoke, and tastes spicy, tingly and invigorates. I felt energized and the effects hit after only 2-3 puffs. The effects are gentle and safe for daytime, but the length of course is not as good as a flower. Sugar Leaves are great for mixing with flower, kief, hash, and also for edibles and making into oils and tinctures. Don't throw those Sugar Leaves away! These are not your daddy's fan leaves...lol BDT is best mixed with Cannatonic flower, or any kief.

My joint inflammation pain was eased big time, and my overall Fibromyalgia ickiness went away. The euphoric effects of Blue Dream Trim is very pronounced, and you are put in a very good mood. I recommend Blue Dream Trim for tight budgets, pain, depression, and too many health ailments to list here. Check out the Blue Dream sugar leaf trim at Takoma Wellness Center today!

Train wreck (Type 2 ) is one of the new strains by Abatin Wellness (as in “pain abating”) that for cosmetic purposes had to be pre-ground, but don’t be concerned about that too much, Trainwreck turned out to be a powerful, good medicinal strain for me and my fibromyalgia. I picked my packet of Trainwreck at Takoma Wellness Center, which now has many new strains in these days due to Abatin Wellness and the other DC cultivators coming online. DC used to have 2 or 3 cultivators, soon we will have 7 cultivators! Trainwreck (Type 2) is labeled as a “hybrid” of Sativa and Indica, with THC at 7% and CBD pretty high at 11%. The other cannabinoids are not listed.

The aroma of Trainwreck (Type 2) has a strong, dank, sour, dairy smell and a sweet, flowery, lilac, orangey zing, followed by a subtle, spicy, warm, pepper, dill and a bitter, vinegar, chive smell in the background. I would maybe even put Trainwreck into the “skunk” category because of the strong, dank bouquet. The taste through a water pipe of Trainwreck is light, creamy with a tinge of spiciness. The aftertaste is fruity and does not give you dry mouth.

The Sativa effects are pretty immediate, and I felt my headache eased, my “fibro-fog” cleared, and my anxiety eased. There is also a good Indica effect that relaxed and “un-stiffened” my muscles. The Indica effect finished it out on the back end, and lasts for an hour or so. Train wreck is a very potent strain.

I would recommend Trainwreck (Type 2) for almost any health issue, for it is a good hybrid, but mostly I would recommend it for head issues like anxiety and headaches. Muscle issues are also treated with its muscle relaxing effects. Train wreck is good for pain also, and overall ickiness, such as autoimmune disorders or the flu. I would probably put this as a night time strain, for it relaxes strongly, and is good for insomnia. My stomach was calmed, so Trainwreck would be good for stomach disorders. Try the new Trainwreck from Abatin Wellness at Takoma Wellness Center.

Cherry Pie, Strong Sativa-Dominant Strain, Yummy Taste!

I have been excited lately at Takoma Wellness Center as I saw new DC cultivators like Abatin Wellness (as in pain "abating") have come online, and many new strains are coming out. I decided to try their new Cherry Pie strain out. Stefanie at TWC told me that they pre-ground their harvest due to cosmetic appearances, and I found out that "looks ain't everything" as they would say.

Cherry pie smells and tastes like...cherry! It has a tart, wonderful flavor and cherry aftertaste I did not get dry mouth. After only 2 puffs I was very medicated. I felt the effects in the back of my neck, as it eased my headache, and helped my head clear and focus. Cherry Pie has a very euphoric effect, and it leaves you grinning. I was able to focus, I had energy, so I would call this a Sativa-dominant strain. It has a small Indica muscle relaxing effect in the background too. Cherry Pie is very potent, I didn't feel a need to take a 3rd puff too much, and the effects lasted well over an hour. I use cannabis for fibromyalgia, and this helped me deal with body pain and other issues. Good strain for the morning and daytime!

I would recommend Cherry Pie for headaches, migraines, depression, and other health issues associated with the head, and also for pain, asthma and many other health issues. I would suggest mixing this with an Indica like Amnesia Haze or GDP Classic if you also have muscle issues, insomnia or other issues where you need a muscle relaxant. Ask a TWC crew member about Abatin Wellness and their new Cherry Pie, and your pain and depression will "be abating"!

All aboard the Pain-Ease Express

A new DC strain from Holistic Remedies "Pineapple Express" (a hybrid with Hawaiian roots) has arrived at Takoma Wellness Center, and it comes in these dense, wonderful looking dark and light green flowers with orange pistils weaving in and out, with white trichomes glistening all over. Pineapple Express is one potent medical strain of cannabis from the initial looks of it and is a very beautiful flower.

Pineapple Express has a very strong bouquet that has aromas of tangy pineapple, spicy cedar and pine, sea salt and vinegar, and sour, citrusy, pink grapefruit. Pineapple Express has a very complex and exciting bouquet. The smoke from Pineapple Express is creamy and mild, and on exhale is tingly and stimulates, I felt a rush of cannabinoids in my bloodstream. The smoke of Pineapple Express is very mild, and it is a pleasant smoke.

The Sativa-like effects of Pineapple Express I felt almost instantly, and it really cleared me of my foggy head, and I felt focused. After a second puff the Indica-like effects then radiated out towards the limbs, relaxing my muscles and easing spasms and pain. I also started to feel my anxiety eased, and Pineapple Express helped me manage my adrenal and cortisol levels. The Sativa-effects are more pronounced, and this is ideal for day time, as Pineapple Express made me more alert, focused and even a little energetic. No couch-lock effect here. The muscle relaxation and pain easing effects helped me move around and be more active. A “pulled muscle” sharp pain in my rib cage was eased along with my muscle and joint pain, so this is a great strain for pain issues. If you approach Pineapple Express from a "West Coast stoner" angle one will be disappointed. Pineapple Express is more of a medicinal strain in the style of Merry n' Berry and Berry-O, and the other cannabinoids besides THC, like CBD, CBG and others are more pronounced and present here. After all, this is a medical program. I ended up taking 4 puffs and the effects lasted well over 2 hours and was strong throughout. This is a strain you need to get to know and take it slow to appreciate. This is a strain new to the East Coast, and is very unique. In fact, I may have to a second review after I use this strain for awhile and when the next generation is harvested.

I would recommend Pineapple Express for a lot of health issues, but mostly “head issues” such as headaches, migraines, ADD/ADHD, anxiety, inability to focus or concentrate, “Fibromyalgia Fog”, depression and maybe even extreme moods. Pineapple Express would be good for auto-immune disorders, chronic fatigue, arthritis, pain, and relaxation too. I could see Pineapple Express being used for skin issues also such as shingles or eczema. My stomach was calmed, but my appetite was not increased. I did get dry mouth a little bit, nothing that a cup of tea couldn't handle.

Best mixed with Master Kush, Blue Dream, Merry ’n Berry, Berry-O and Indica or Indica-dominant strains.

Krypto Dyno-mite

Krypto pre-rolls from Takoma Wellness Center are great for quick and easy access to medicinal relief, or for folks who don’t want anything fancy like “vaping” and water pipes, and go “old school”. Having it pre-rolled is great for those with arthritis or joint issues, or for those who never could figure out how to roll. When I popped the plastic lid Krypto’s bouquet had a very strong fruity aroma, with a tinge of sour and sage. Like I said the Krypto lights instantly, no prep. The smoke of Krypto is milky and smooth, and tasted of pepper and sage. The smoke expanded and I coughed a bit, but the smoke was smooth.

I felt the Sativa effects quickly with Krypto, within 2 minutes an effervescent rush started in my head, and I felt my anxiety eased, and my headache and pains were eased. The second puff of Krypto sent a rush of the Indica muscle-relaxing effects down my legs and really relaxed me. I use medical cannabis for fibromyalgia, and this really works for my muscle spasms and stiffness. Krypto gives great “rushes” of cannabinoid medicine. After 3 puffs I was heavily medicated and relaxed for over an hour. There is a couch-lock effect with Krypto, so I recommend it only for nighttime or relaxation time. I have found pre-rolls are great for bath time, because once you light them you can puff on them and keep it going for a few minutes without re-lighting. Check out the pre-rolls of Krypto and other TWC custom blends of medical cannabis at Takoma Wellness Center, they have new ones each week with various strains blended together and each one is unique and is a “surprise”. I have found blending to work well when using cannabis as a medicine.

Heavy Indica Medicine

The Green Skunk pre-roll comes in a cool plastic tube, and is ready to use. When I popped the top I smelled a strong sour, dairy aroma followed by a very salty, vinegar tingle. There is also a peppery and orangish dash in the background. The pre-roll lit quickly and has a nice filter thingie to keep small bits out of the mouth. The smoke is a tad harsh, and I did cough a few times, though mostly from the tingle rather than the harshness. I tasted mostly pepper and sage, with a tasty minty aroma and aftertaste. After about 4 puffs I felt the effects.

Green Skunk’s Sativa effects hit after 5-10 minutes, and I felt in in the head first, and it relaxed me and relieved my headache and stress. Then I felt a muscle-relaxing Indica effect start melting my shoulder and other muscles, and my body and muscle pain were eased. I use medical cannabis for fibromyalgia and this really helped with my overall pains and aches, and has great muscle-relaxing effects. A really strong second wave of the Sativa effects hit me after that, and I was well medicated and smiling. Green Skunk does make your mind wander a bit, and I felt very calm and chill. I did NOT get a dry mouth or the munchies, although my stomach was calm and I was hungry later on.

I ended up only using half the pre-roll, and was well relaxed and medicated for a few hours, so Green Skunk is pretty powerful. I would recommend Green Skunk for night time or relaxation time. The uses could be for pain, headaches, glaucoma, auto-immune disorders, fibromyalgia and other muscle-related health issues. I felt very euphoric, so it is great for depression, and probably ADD/ADHD too, as well as PTSD and anxiety issues.

Amnesia Haze Take Me Away!

Amnesia Haze is a new DC Sativa strain by Holistic Remedies that I found today on display at my friendly neighborhood dispensary, the Takoma Wellness Center. Amnesia Haze has a very high THC level at 23% and had a strong sour smell. The flowers are light to dark green, very firm and dense, and have dark orange pistils throughout. Amnesia Haze is absolutely covered with white terpenes, which usually is a good sign it s loaded with yummy medicine.

BOUQUET
The first aroma I sensed is a very strong, sour smell, especially when you break open the flower.
Sour: Dairy, cream cheese
Bitter: Mineral, chives and onion
Spicy: Sharp, peppery and cedar
Sweet: Fruity, tropical, mango

TASTE
The taste of Amnesia Haze through a water pipe is very light and milky, and leaves a pepper-like tingle in the nose. The smoke did not expand much, and I only coughed a tad. Amnesia Haze is a very mild and pleasant smoke. Amnesia Haze leaves a very nice berry aftertaste and does not give you a dry mouth.

EFFECTS
The effects of Amnesia Haze took about 10 minutes to hit and came on gradually. The Sativa effects kick in first behind my eyes, and then a surge of cannabinoids and other medicines radiated out and my anxiety was eased. My third puff was exhilarating and my joint pain, muscle spasms and stiffness were eased. My thoughts began to wander and the couch-lock effect is strong with this one at first, but an hour later my brain felt focused and calm. The stomach is calmed and the appetite is stimulated, so have some nuts and berries standing by. The effects lasted about an hour, and were strong the whole time. Depression is lifted and I did not feel a need to take another dose for a good while. Amnesia Haze stays in the system and lasts, making the duration very long. I would recommend this as a night time strain, with caution on daytime use. The second stage of this wonderful strain is very relaxing, calming and helps the brain really slow down and focus. It was hard to review this strain, because it has almost 2 different stages, with the second one being a nice, long calming effect and easing of pain.

USES
I would recommend Amnesia Haze for pain issues first, nerve pain to muscle pain, for glaucoma, headaches, migraines, endometriosis, menstrual pain, post-operative pain, or for that old nagging injury. The calming and euphoric effects make Amnesia Haze ideal for anxiety, PTSD, panic attacks, stress, depression, bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia, and other mental health issues. I would recommend Amnesia Haze also for insomnia and other sleep disorder issues.

Amnesia Haze might be effective against skin health issues such as shingles, eczema and rashes. Amnesia Haze might also be good for auto-immune disorders and diseases with muscle spasm and stiffness issues, for there is a strong, relaxing, Indica effect, although I would classify this as a Sativa-dominant strain great for relaxing and calming. Get Amnesia Haze from Holistic Remedies at Takoma Wellness Center and try it for your health issues the next time you’re in.

Tangie Dream

Tangie is a new strain to DC, grown by Holistic Remedies and I picked it up at the Takoma Wellness Center dispensary. Tangie comes in fluffy, olive-tan flowers bristling with orange pistils and coated with white terpenes. The bouquet was a wonderful and powerful explosion of citrus.

AROMA
Sweet Strong, flowery, tangerine, citrus smell
Bitter: Nutty, roasted, pistachio
Sour: Citrus, tangerine
Spicy: Warm, cedar, sage

TASTE
Tangie smoked through a water pipe tastes light and chalky, with a tangy, citrus-like aftertaste. Tangie’s smoke is not harsh, and very smooth exhaling, and tingles the nose with a citrus zing. I did not get dry mouth.

EFFECTS
The effects took about 15 minutes to hit, and I felt the Sativa-like effects first, inside my head behind my eyes, easing my headache, anxiety and focus issues. Tangie also almost immediately eased my muscular, skeletal and neurological pain by taking my mind to a euphoric place away from the pain. After two puffs I felt a powerful surge of the medicinal cannabinoids though my bloodstream and system and was relaxed. Tangie puts a big smile on your face and invigorates you. I felt the Indica-like effects later, but not very pronounced. Tangie does relax the muscles a bit though. My appetite was really stimulated, so have some nuts and berries standing by. I felt focused and the “couch-lock effect” is not in play here with this stimulating Sativa strain.

USES
I would recommend Tangie first for issues with the head such as migraines, headaches, ADD/ADHD, anxiety, PTSD, stress and more. Tangie has very good pain relieving properties, so I would recommend it for glaucoma, nerve/muscle/bone pain, and other aches. Tangie cleared out my “foggy head” and would be a good strain for the morning and all-day pain. Tangie is excellent for appetite issues, nausea and other digestive issues.

I would also recommend Tangie for muscle issues, insomnia and for relaxing. Tangie is a very relaxing Sativa. Tangie might be good for autoimmune disorders such as fibromyalgia and lupus.

BEST BLENDED WITH
Berry-O, Blue Dream, Kushes

Try cooking with this wonderful new flower from Holistic Remedies and Takoma Wellness Center to help with your pain and other health issues., and smoking and vaporizing this flower is also wonderful.

Cannatonic State of Relaxation

Cannatonic is cultivated by Holistic Remedies, and comes in tan and olive buds that are very dense, and although the orange pistils are muted, it is really coated with a thick, white frosting of delicious terpenes, which contains most of the medicine. I got my flower at Takoma Wellness Center, and it was listed as THC 19% and 1% of CBD, the other cannabinoids are not listed but I am sure are there, as well as the flavonoids.

AROMA
The aroma of Cannatonic is very muted, and I smelled an earthy, dairy type aroma first.
Spicy: Warm, earthy, cedar, pepper
Sour: Dairy, butter
Bitter: Mineral, chemical
Sweet: Fruity, plum

TASTE
The taste of Cannatonic through a water pipe is chalky, spicy and peppery, with a fruity, plum aftertaste. The smoke is very thick and rich, and I coughed a tad. With strains that are coated so thickly with terpenes that is usually the case. I did not get dry mouth.

EFFECTS
The Sativa-like effects of Cannatonic are felt first, in the head. My pain, headache, and anxiety were eased. Cannatonic is a creeper, so give it about 5-10 minutes, and it really kicks in. I felt my “Fibromyalgia Fog” clear, and it really eased my ADD. I felt exhilaration and euphoria radiate out from my head, like a surge of medicine racing through my bloodstream and system.

Cannatonic is a true medicinal staring of cannabis, and the pain-relieving and therapeutic effects are felt more than the psychoactive effects are. Cannatonic has a real strong calming effect, and the Indica effects are felt very gradually and creep up on you, and you are bathed in a tingly medicinal bath of cannabinoids that lasts surprisingly long. The muscles relax, and nerve, muscle and skeletal pain are all eased. The thoughts wander minimally, not a very strong “couch lock” effect. I would say Cannatonic can be a day medicine, but might be more of a night medicine.

USES
I would recommend Cannatonic first for head health issues, from migraines to ADD/ADHD, to depression and anxiety, and even PTSD and bipolar disorder. Cannatonic is good for clearing the head from fogginess, and and is good for focus problems. The strong medicinal properties make Cannatonic very effective on nerve or phantom pain. The skin tingling properties of this strain makes it ideal for skin issues such as rashes, eczema and shingles. I would recommend this strain for fibromyalgia and other auto-immune disorders, and diseases with muscle issues such as spasms, stiffness and pain. Cannatonic might also be good for insomnia, nausea and digestive issues, and possibly seizures. Check out this nice, relaxing and mellow strain grown by Holistic Remedies and is available at Takoma Wellness Center.

Come on baby light my Fire OG

Fire OG is a new strain by the local DC cultivators, and they are coming out with some great ones lately. Capitol City Cultivators came out with Fire OG this week, and was available at Takoma Wellness Center. Fire OG flowers are beautiful, dense, olive-green flowers, with orange pistils and a rich, thick, frosty coating of white terpenes. (see pic!) The aroma was spicy and tingly, and it smelled loaded with flavonoids, cannabinoids and medicine. The THC is listed at 18% and CBD at 2%, levels of the other cannabinoids are not listed but I am sure are there.

Bouquet / Aroma
Spicy: warm, black pepper and sage
Sour: citrus. lemon
Bitter: mineral, vinegar
Sweet: fruity, tropical, pineapple

Taste
The taste of Fire OG smoke through a water pipe is milky and chalky, with a tangy, spicy peppery tingle, and makes you cough a tad. Fire OG has very thick and powerful smoke, and exhilarates after inhaling. Fire OG leaves a very pleasant spicy, peppery and sage aftertaste. I did not get dry mouth.

Effects
I felt the Sativa effects of Fire OG first and very quickly, in the head, and it eased my anxiety and melted my headache. I then felt the strong Indica effects as it radiated down my body and relaxed my muscles. The cannabinoids rippled out through my bloodstream and skin, and exhilarates and energizes. Fire OG is a great morning or daytime strain. Fire OG eased my skin issues also. I felt very relaxed and calm, and Fire OG helped me focus and eased my ADD. Fire OG is very strong medicine, for after one puff I did not feel a strong urge to take a second puff, and the effects lasted almost 15 minutes from that one dosage. Fire OG is somewhat of a “creeper” and the effects get stronger as time goes by. Fire OG is a good, all-day, strong medicinal strain. The effects are pronounced, yet lighter than other strains, and I did not feel a "couch-lock" effect.

Uses
I would recommend Fire OG first for any head pain issues such as migraines, headaches, glaucoma, anxiety, and ADD/ADHD. Fire OG also has a powerful and strong Indica muscle-relaxing effect and would be good for MS, fibromyalgia, Parkinson’s or other muscle spasm and stiffness type diseases. Fire OG’s calming effect would also make it ideal for insomnia, although it is a morning and daytime strain also. Fire OG has a nice, euphoric feeling and is good for depression, and for easing PTSD. Fire OG is also good for skin issues such as rashes, eczema, psoriasis, shingles and more. Fire OG is a multi-use strain for sure.

Fire OG would also be good for nerve pain, phantom pain, and all sorts of neurological issues. Fire OG could be used also for bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia and other mental health issues. Fire OG is very calming and slows the brain down. I would also recommend Fire OG for nausea, appetite and other digestive issues. Fire OG really increases the appetite. Check out this awesome new strain at Takoma Wellness Center!

MediHaze all through my brain...lately days just don't seem the same!

I got my MediHaze at Takoma Wellness Center, and MediHaze comes in these slender, olive-green flowers with orange pistils weaving through, and thickly and richly coated with a white fur of terpenes. I could see the small crystal mushrooms of terpenes coating the flowers of MediHaze with my naked eye. The CBD level is very high at 18%, and is a cannabinoid that is favored by medical cannabis patients.

Aroma (Very mild)
Sour- dairy
Spicy - fennel, tabasco
Sweet - flowery, blossoms, lilac
Bitter - salty, mineral

The taste of MediHaze is chalky, creamy, with a spicy, tingly sage-like, cinnamon tinge. The smoke expanded and I coughed a tad, very strong smoke. MediHaze leaves a very tasty and moist minty aftertaste.

I felt the Sativa effects a few minutes later, in the back of the head first, and then it radiated out towards the top of head, towards my crown chakra. MediHaze has a strong euphoric effect and I felt depression eased. MediHaze is a creeper, big time. After a second puff and 10 more minutes, the Indica side kicks in and kicks in hard, and really relaxes the muscles, eases muscle spasms and pain, and eases other pain. The name MediHaze must come from the haze in your head thats kicks in after 15 minutes or so, and you are really in a haze and your thoughts slow down. I did feel my focus was sharp, but just slowed down. This is only a night time strain, and best for relaxation. I would call this a hybrid strain, Sativa dominant, but with a very strong Indica side.

MediHaze is very strong and powerful, and the effects last a long time; two puffs eased my fibromyalgia symptoms for almost an hour. MediHaze eased my stomach and does stimulate the appetite a bit. I did not get dry mouth.

I recommend MediHaze for MS, fibromyalgia, pain, and muscular, neurological and skeletal issues. MediHaze would also be good for insomnia and head issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD and more. MediHaze is a TRUE medical cannabis strain, and will probably come to be a favorite by Takoma Wellness Center patients.

Buffalo Soldier - A Stampede of pleasure

What's there to say? Buffalo Soldier is one potent strain, and has very high CBG (15%) and THC (20%), and many other cannabinoids. It sold out quickly at Takoma Wellness Center,, and is a crowd favorite. Buffalo Soldier comes in these dark green, firm flowers that are very gooey and are coated with terpenes.

The smell of Buffalo Soldier very sweet and fruity, as well as the taste on exhale. There is some spiciness to it also, and is a very pleasant smoke; although it does expand so I recommend small doses.

The effects of Buffalo Soldier are quick and awesome, and it takes care of pain, muscle stiffness, anxiety, and helps with depression and ADHD. Buffalo Soldier is great for PTSD , for it calms one down and makes you feel very calm. It does NOT cause over drowsiness and is a good strain for the daytime. I could focus very well, this is a great medicinal strain for ADD and/or ADHD.

I would recommend Buffalo Soldier first for ADD/ADHD, pain, muscle spasms and stiffness, anxiety disorders, PTSD and autoimmune disorders. Buffalo Soldier is also good for insomnia, digestion issues, skin issues and more. I would call this a Hybrid, right down the middle.

Master Kush CO2 Powder - A Little Dab Will Do Ya

I’m always skeptical of the effects of cannabis extracts, for I am someone who loves the pure, natural flowers and don’t think those properties can be extracted and put into a pill by Big Pharma. When I saw Master Kush CO2 Powder on sale at Takoma Wellness Center, I wasn’t sure what to expect. When i got home I was pleasantly surprised to find that CO2 extraction is not just used in the cannabis field, it is also used with all sorts of botanicals in the natural remedy world from ginger to rosemary. CO2 extraction is “green” (sustainable), leaves no residues, contains no contaminants, and the process preserves the medicinal properties of the plant, in this case the cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids in the Master Kush flower. With deep pain from fibromyalgia, I have been considering using “concentrates” for I feel I need a more powerful medicine than a flower from time to time when the pain gets real intense. I decided to give Master Kush CO2 Powder a try. Master Kush CO2 Powder comes in these cute plastic containers, and is a yellow-brownish powder, similar to hash or kief. Master Kush CO2 Powder
is very dry and brittle, with some chucks and some powder. Stephanie Kahn from Takoma Wellness Center told me I could sprinkle it on flower like kief, and really helped me with my medicine in her ever-cheerful manner.

Bouquet
Master Kush CO2 Powder has a dank, musty odor, but doesn’t really have blast or aroma like a flower might have, the aroma is very muted.

Effects.
I sprinkled a tiny amount (a little goes a long way!) on top of some Berry-O flower, I would say about the size of a grain of sand. I burned and inhaled my CO2 powder through a water pipe. The taste of CO2 powder is dry, spicy, tingly, and I tasted sage and cinnamon. CO2 powder smoke expands a lot, I coughed a tad, but afterwards my lungs did not hurt. Master Kush CO2 Powder had a somewhat pleasant after taste, a little milky, and left the mouth moist. Berry-O also had a lot to do with the good taste probably.

The effects of Master Kush CO2 Powder are felt very quickly, within 30 seconds, and in the head area, around the crown chakra. I felt a wave of euphoria and lightheadedness ripple outwards my shoulders, and my headache was eased, and it lessened my joint, muscle and nerve pain very well. The third and fourth puffs you feel a rush of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids whoosh through your bloodstream and skin. My thoughts turned inward, and external distractions were tuned out. My anxiety was eased tremendously as a result. You really feel the medicine strongly, for the CO2 extraction process really draws out all the botanical medicine from the plant well. Thoughts wander big time with Master Kush CO2 Powder, so this medicine is best for relaxation and night time. Although I was able to concentrate somewhat, due to the calming and relaxing effects.

The real effects “creep in” and really hit after the 5th or 6th puff, and your body floats on a cloud, and all pain is gone. I was afraid the the high THC in Master Kush CO2 Powder was just going to make me really, really stoned and not help me with pain in my joints and muscles but I was wrong. Although your thoughts do wander, the botanical extracts seem to seep in deep into your nervous system and skin, and really drives away all pain; the physical medicinal properties of the extract are far more pronounced than the psychedelic properties. I have this one pain deep in my spine that hardly ever goes away, and Master Kush CO2 Powder almost completely took the pain away. My suggestion is, keep puffing until it hits you, for it is somewhat delayed, like an edible. It took about an hour for the full effects and entourage effect with the flower you mix it with to really kick in all the way. The effects lasted a few hours before I had to re-dose.

Master Kush CO2 Powder is a great alternative to BHO, or Butane Hash Oil, so we don’t have to blow ourselves up in our kitchen. Patients like me with deep, severe pain sometimes need something very strong to kill the pain, and Master Kush CO2 Powder fills that role perfectly and naturally. Master Kush CO2 Powder does not feel like a harsh chemical, it is very gentle on the system. Make sure you have nuts and berries standing by because you get the munchies big time.

I recommend Master Kush CO2 Powder primarily for pain, especially deep, neural pain, muscle, bone and more. It is also good for glaucoma, migraines, headaches, autoimmune disorders like fibromyalgia, and appetite and digestive issues. The calming effects make it ideal for PTSD, anxiety issues, ADD, ADHD, depression and other matters of the head. Secondary uses for Master Kush CO2 Powder are insomnia, shingles, rashes, PMS, IBS, and more. Try some Master Kush CO2 Powder at Takoma Wellness Center today, it will bing you serious pain relief, and the 1/2 gram should las you a few days, maybe even a week or two. Master Kush CO2 Powder is very potent and concentrated, so a little dab will do ya!

Ed Rosenthal Super Bad - Gives you the CBGeebies!

Takoma Wellness Center had the 2015 batch of Ed Rosenthal today, which I haven't seen in a while. Ed Rosenthal still has that chemical-type aroma I remember, but checking my notes from last year I see the cannabinoid levels have gone up for THC, from 12% to 20%! Thats double! I must admit from my experience the cultivators are getting better each generation. Also, cannabis has over 100 cannabinoids, with about 9 being identified, and one of the emerging cannabinoids that people are now starting to talk about more than THC and CBD is CBG, or cannabigeral. CBG is known to have anti-bacterial properties, slows cancer and tumor cell growth, and can greatly effect the overall cannabis effect. When CBG is burned, it changes into CBGa, a cannabinoid that is known to have anti-inflammation effects. Ed Rosenthal Superbud has 8% CBG! That is very high. Stephanie Kahn of Takoma Wellness center helped me with my medicine, and picked out a beautiful rich, green, fluffy flower. Here is my review:

THC 20% / CBD 2% / CBG 8%

BOUQUET
SOUR: dairy, cheese blast!
BITTER: salty, vinegar
SPICY: sage, fennel
SWEET: jasmine

TASTE: Ed is powdery, tingly with a peppery zing, and the aftertaste was moist, chalky, and minty.

EFFECTS: The effects of Ed Rosenthal Superbud is strong, and hits you right away. The Sativa effect is first, and is strong and cerebral; radiating down from top, and rippled into my muscles and skin. Ed took my pain away very quickly. The Indica effect of Ed is almost right behind, relaxing muscles, and even helped ease my nausea.Ed helped me focus, lowered my depression, and put me in a euphoric calmness and the effects last. I feel the 8% CBG had a lot to do with it. I recommend Ed Rosenthal for pain, glaucoma, appetite issues and mental health issues such as depression and ADHD. Ed has secondary uses of treating muscle issues and insomnia also. Ed is back, and he is strong!

Berry O - Powerful and potent

Berry O’s aroma hits you first with it’s strong berry, flowery, lilac bouquet, countered by a bitter, mineral-like, sea salt tinge. The sour side of Berry O had a cheese-like smell to it, with a spicy, warm, cedar zest side. Berry O has an enticing and rich bouquet. Berry-O flowers are light and fluffy, dark-green, with orange and tan hairs weaving through it. A quick peek through the magnifying lens showed the sheen of white terpenes.

The taste of Berry O through a water pipe is creamy, spicy, grassy, and medium to mild in harshness. Berry O’s smoke is very expanding, and I coughed a tad, but my throat was not irritated, Berry O is a very pleasant and tasty smoke and “vape”. Berry O’s aftertaste was tangy, fruity, berry-like flavor, and did not cause dry mouth. Very Tasty! The after taste lingers and helps prevent dry mouth.

Berry O's affects kicked in very quickly after just one puff, and got rid of my headache and my pain in minutes. Berry O actually even eased my muscle spasms and pain somewhat like an Indica, although I felt the Sativa-dominant effects first. I felt my anxiety eased, and I felt a sense of calm and focus. This Sativa does NOT make one “over anxious”. I felt Berry O's effects in the top of my head first, and then it rippled down towards the neck and shoulders. I was able to focus and concentrate more, and Berry O almost instantly cleared the “Fibro Fog” in my head. My mood was lifted, for the psychoactive properties of Berry O are surprisingly powerful.

The second puff hit even stronger, and I felt the organs, glands and skin invigorated, as the cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes went to work. Berry O really eases pain and overall “ickiness”. The less-dominant Indica side kicks in shortly after that, and radiated down the spine easing muscle spasms, stiffness and pain, easing inflamed joints, and relieving general pain. The effects are very long, those two puffs helped ease my pain and other symptoms for over an hour. Berry O is very calming, and is great for relaxation and meditation. My appetite was stimulated, so have some nuts and berries standing by. Berry O did NOT cause “couch lock” or too much drowsiness, so this strain is good for daytime or nighttime.

I would recommend Berry O for mostly diseases and symptoms relieved by a Sativa and Sativa-dominant medical cannabis strains, such as anxiety disorders, PTSD, ADD/ADHD, and concentration issues. Berry O would also be good for headaches, migraines and other issues of the head and brain. Berry O is great for appetite and other digestive issues, and calms the stomach.

Berry O's secondary health issues would be the flu, endometriosis, glaucoma, shingles, nerve or post-operative pain, autoimmune disorders such as fibromyalgia or lupus and more. Berry O does have a muscle-relaxing and sleep-inducing effect, making it pretty good for insomnia and other sleep issues. Ask one of the TWC crew for a sniff of this delicious medical cannabis strain, and see if it helps you with your health issues.

Merry N Berry - "Strain for Life"

Merry N Berry

I was excited when I got on Takoma Wellness Center’s Facebook Page and saw they had a new strain from Holistic Remedies named after "Mayor For Life" Marion Barry called “Merry N Berry”. The strains have been getting better and better each time. David at Takoma Wellness Center said Merry N Berry is a descendant of the “LSD” medical cannabis strain, and he said it offered “strong euphoric and psychoactive effects”, and he was right. TWC picked out a a nice flower of Merry N Berry which was tall, olive, and not dense but “fluffy” I would say. The first sniff smelled of maybe dairy, something musty. The flower had only a few orange hairs, but was coated with a fine sheen of white trichomes and terpenes, and that is where a lot of the medicine is.

BOUQUET
The bouquet of Merry N Berry (or MNB) is subtle, yet exotic. I sensed the Bitter side first, smelling dairy and butter, with a tinge of a mineral, sea-salt aroma. The Spicy side is next, with a sharp, herbal, fennel smell tickling the nose. Then the Sweet side balances it all out and lines up with the name of the strain, and I smelled a fruity, blueberry-like aroma.

TASTE
I smoked a flower of MNB through a water pipe, and the smoke was very, very mild, and has a blueberry and cherry like taste on the tongue. I did not get dry mouth, in fact I got a great blueberry and cherry aftertaste that almost moistens the mouth.

EFFECTS
I felt the Sativa-like effects of MNB first and within a minute or two. MNB acts fast. I felt easing of pressure and pain at the top and back of the head, and I felt a rush of euphoria in my brain. My headache, anxiety, and fogginess started to melt away. After about 5 minutes it slips into an Indica mode, and the skin tingles, and then the muscles relax. It almost feels like Marry N Berry is two awesome strains trying to break out, this is truly a unique and exciting new hybrid.

The thoughts tend to wander with Merry N Berry, so the couch lock effect I would rate at high. I did not get munchies, but it did calm down my stomach, so MNB is a good strain for digestive issues and calming down the stomach.

A third wave even kicked in after 15 minutes, with the skin tingling as the two halves of MNB combine in a synergistic effect to really medicate. The psychoactive effects at this point are very high, and I found it hard to finish my review. MNB has a very euphoric and strong “high”.

BEST FOR: Nausea, headaches/migraines, and anxiety disorders.

ALSO GOOD FOR: Pain, skin issues associated with fibromyalgia and other autoimmune disorders, depression, glaucoma and issues associated with the head, not the body. I would NOT recommend it for appetite issues, ADD/ADHD, or muscle spasms.

BEST STRAIN TO MIX WITH
I would recommend mixing Merry N Berry with an Indica, and the best one out right now is Master Kush. Don't forget one can mix it with a Master Kush kief or hash, sprinkling it on a crushed up flower to “infuse” it with more medicine. Ask a health care worker at TWC to let you smell this awesome new strain from Holistic Remedies next time you are there.

S.A.G.E. - Great for pain, clearing out headaches...

SAGE

I mostly use Indicas to treat my fibromyalgia, but Sativas are good to help balance out other strains, and are also good to treat the “Fibro-Fog” in my head every morning and get rid of my headaches. I also use Sativas to stimulate my appetite to help me eat. SAGE from Takoma Wellness Center comes in these nice, fluffy flowers, with bright green leaves, orange hairs and a frosty coating of terpenes loaded with THC (24%!) and CBD (2%), two of the best cannabinoids used for medical reasons.

AROMA
The bouquet of SAGE is subtle and mild, but I smelled the sour side first, and I smelled dairy, cream with citrusy lemongrass, balanced by a sweet side that smelled of fruit, apple and plum. The bitter side is onion, chive, cocoa, cucumber, and peanut, countered by a spicy side that smells of warm cedar, spicy pepper with a sharp tinge of herbal mint and chili.

TASTE
The taste of SAGE through a water pipe is mild and creamy, with a tart, cherry-like tinge of the nose. SAGE has a nice aftertaste of cherry and mint, and I coughed a tad, so smoke it through a water pipe to cool the smoke, or maybe try SAGE in liquid or edible form. Ask a TWC crew member about sublingual drops or using it in cooking. SAGE doesn’t give you dry mouth, but have nuts and berries standing by, for it does increase the appetite.

EFFECTS
I felt the Sativa-like effects on the top of the head first, and it eased my headache, anxiety, ADD and helped me focus. SAGE really clears out the “Fibro-Fog” cobwebs. The high level of THC (24%) makes this a potent Sativa, and the psychoactive effects are calming and euphoric. This bad boy gets you STONED, big time. The pain relieving effects of SAGE are awesome, and my joint and muscle pain were eased, almost like aspirin. The strong calming effects causes muscles to relax, and it eased my muscle spasms.

This is a Sativa, and the high THC level does make ones mind wander a tad, but the couch lock effect I would rate at medium, and one can focus on light tasks; but of course no driving! I would say SAGE is good for morning medicine, for SAGE doesn’t make you tired or sleepy, it invigorates the body and especially the mind. The effects lasted for hours, this is a potent and long lasting strain.

BEST FOR:
*Nausea, appetite issues, pain, ADD/ADHD, depression

ALSO GOOD FOR:
Anxiety disorders, Auto-Immune disorders, Shingles, rashes, the flu, PMS, endometriosis, arthritis and many other health issues.

BEST BLENDED WITH:
Blue Dream Boutique or Master Kush

"NEW" Master Kush - Good things come in small packages!

I use the Indica and Kush medical cannabis strains to treat my fibromyalgia and insomnia frequently, and this "new" Master Kush strain currently at Takoma Wellness Center is one potent medical strain that I have learned to love and rely on. Don’t let the size fool you, these dense little buds are packed with terpenes and cannabinoids that will invigorate and medicate strongly. The reason I call it "New" is Master Kush is now ten times more potent and better than when it came onto the market in DC back in 2013. David and Josh from Takoma Wellness Center helped select some choice flowers that have light and dark green leaves, that don’t have many orange hairs and are not "sticky", but are glistening with a frosty-coating of wonderful smelling terpenes. The buds are very dense, compact and like I said, very potent. The THC level is very high at 20%, and it lists CBD at 1%, a great muscle relaxer among other uses. CBN is listed at just under 1%, a cannabinoid that boosts the THC's psychoactive effects.

AROMA
Master Kush, or “MK”, has a strong aroma and bouquet. The first smell that you sense is a tart, cherry aroma, balanced out by a bitter side that smells of sea salt and chives, and a sour side that reminded me of cheese and lemon grass. The spicy side is there too, with chili, pepper and cloves tickling the nose.

TASTE
The smoke of MK from a water pipe is spicy and tickles the nose, and is not harsh for a Kush. MK does expand some and can cause coughing, so I would recommend smaller dosages, or ingest it orally as drops or through food. The taste of MK is very yummy, and I tasted cherry and lime. I did not get “cottonmouth”, and MK does not really cause “the munchies” too much.

EFFECTS
The Sativa-like effects of MK hit you first, and hits hard and rushes through the skin and glands, and you first feel it in the head area. This is a very strong psychoactive strain, which normally you would find in a Sativa or Sativa-dominant strain probably due to the CBN as mentioned above. A very pleasurable feeling comes over you, and headaches, anxiety and more are eased. The strong Indica side kicks in very soon after, melting muscle stiffness and easing muscle spasms and pain. MK also eases joint inflammation. MK does cause deep relaxation, and some drowsiness, so this strain is best for relaxation or night time. I use this as my sleep medicine, to help prepare for my night’s sleep or if I wake up in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep.

BEST FOR: Muscle issues, insomnia, pain.
* Great for shingles, eczema, psoriasis, rashes and other skin afflictions!

ALSO GOOD FOR: Autoimmune disorders, fibromyalgia, lupus, lyme disease, ADD/ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, Parkinson’s, MS, endometriosis, pain, phantom limb, AIDS, glaucoma, arthritis and more. Ask a TWC crew member about this potent little strain the next time you are in.

Critical Kush - The Indica that Relaxes and Energizes

The DC cultivators are really churning out a lot of new strains lately, and this week the Takoma Wellness Center dispensary had a new strain out when I walked in, “Critical Kush” (or “CK” for short). I asked Darryl for a sniff of the aroma, and I checked out the flower in detail through their cool “magnifying lens” built into the display. Critical Kush is a very gorgeous olive-green flower bursting with orange tendrils, and through the lens I saw it was coated with a velvety sheen coat of white trichomes. The label said the THC level is 14%, and CBD is about 1%, but of course all 100 cannabinoids are present in all medical cannabis strains in some form or another. One thing that is not measured is the flavonoids and terpenes, but hopefully my nose and my review can help with that. CK did not seem “sticky” or have an overpowering aroma, and I would say they are light flowers, not dense.

BOUQUET
The aroma of Critical Kush is very subtle and 4-dimensional, much like the effects of this new medical cannabis strain, and at first was very difficult to nail down a particular scent because there were so many. What made it particularly challenging is that CK has aromas I have not encountered in medical cannabis strains before. The bouquet of CK is actually all 4 sides: sweet, spicy, bitter and sour and tingles the senses from every direction. The sweet side has a flowery, rose-like, violet touch, with a sour side that had a dairy-like, sour cream aroma. The spicy side has a sharp, jalapeño, mint-like feel, that is balanced out by a bitter side that smells of nuts, cocoa, vinegar and sea salt. The aroma of CK, although not strong, is very rich and exotic.

TASTE
The taste of Critical Kush through a water pipe tastes chalky and sweet, with a splash of herbal, spicy, nutty aftertaste, and is slightly harsh. I coughed a tad from the smoke expanding, but it wasn’t too bad. I would caution anyone with lung and breathing issues either burning or vaporizing this strain, maybe in edible or tincture form might be best for you.

EFFECTS
I felt Critical Kush's Indica Kush side effects of CK in the nerves first, and CK eased my pain and anxiety within a few minutes. CK is very fast acting. CK hits the muscles second, a minute or two later, and eased my headache very quickly. CK would be very good for migraines and headaches. I felt the effects in my muscles ripple out from my head and down, and I felt a calm wave of muscle relaxing cannabinoids rush through my blood and skin. My joint inflammation was also eased by CK. This is one awesome Kush for muscle spasm, muscle pain and stiffness issues. CK “oils the joints” and gets you moving.

Critical Kush's less-dominant, though strong, Sativa side kicks in about 5 minutes later after a second puff, and the “fibro-foggy” head was cleared, and I was able to focus more. I felt a sense of calmness, and the psychoactive compounds lift you up on a cloud of euphoria and lifts the mood. CK is great for cognitive pain therapy and depression. CK is potent but the “total effect" creeps, after the third puff and 15 minutes later, your total body and mind are relaxed. CK's effects lasted long for me, about a couple of hours or so. I imagine in edible or tincture form CK might last 6-8 hours. My mouth was not dry after smoking CK, and I did not get an overwhelming munchie attack. It would not be great for appetite issues,

The relaxing and calming effects of Critical Kush are great for insomnia and helps you fall back asleep, especially if you wake up at 4 AM in pain like I do sometimes. Pair it with a cup of hot chamomile tea. The effects are somewhat invigorating though, so CK is a great “wake up” medicine, and possibly for later on in the day also. CK did not cause over drowsiness. In fact I would say CK is an “energetic, invigorating Indica that relaxes”, which sounds funny but reflects the 4-dimensional aromas of this medical cannabis strain.

TREATMENT RECOMENDATIONS
I would first recommend Critical Kush for pain, muscle spams, joint inflammation and pain, arthritis, shingles, migraines, headaches, endometriosis, spinal and bone pain.

Secondary uses can be treating ADD, ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, indigestion, nausea, PTSD, foggy head, mental focus problems, neurological health issues, and more. Critical Kush probably covers hundreds of diseases and thousands of symptoms, so ask one of the TWC crew for a sniff of this strain and a peek through the magnifying lens, and try a flower of this exotic strain today for your particular health needs.

Sour Diesel Kief

Buffalo Soldier Kief - A Stampede of Pleasure

“Kief”, pronounced “kef” or “keef”, is an Arabic word for “pleasure”, and the name is very fitting for this form of medical cannabis. Hash is kief compressed into bricks to use in Hookahs, because they stay lit. Like hash, kief is also very high in cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes. Kief is the trichomes, which is the golden dust on a flower that tingles your nose and senses. The biggest difference with kief though is it has been processed less and is “fresher". Being “fresher” I feel kief has more flavonoids and terpenes intact, which means more medical cannabinoids. Buffalo Solider Kief (or BSK) comes in an olive tan “powder” form and is usually bought in half gram units. I bought my Buffalo Soldier Kief from Takoma Wellness Center. TWC has nice signs letting patients know what is in stock, and since there was no Buffalo Soldier flower in stock but they did have Buffalo Soldier KIef, I decided to try some "Buffalo Soldier" in kief form.

Buffalo Solider Kief’s aroma tingled my nose and is very tangy, spicy, and sour. I smelled cedar, cherry and citrus. BSK’s smoke is very mild, but does tingle the lungs and nose and expands some. I mostly use kief sprinkled on a flower of medical cannabis, in this case Blue Dream Classic, to boost the medicinal benefits. BDK’s effects are felt very quickly and you first start feeling them in your head area and nerve endings, as the levels of psychoactive cannabinoids ease headaches and anxiety. Then BDK's effects are then felt in the muscle and skin, and help ease muscle spasms and stiffness and lowers pain. One thing I note with the strains very high in cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes and in the right proportion is that your skin tingles, and the effects are invigorating. BDK really helps augment the cannabinoids in the flower, sometimes boosting their effectiveness. Be careful though, if you use too much you trade strength for duration, and the high CBD content in kief or hash tends to start counteracting THC, and will actually cause you to lose the psychoactive Sativa effects (lose your “high”) of the flower you are mixing it with. The Indica muscle relaxing effects are NOT affected though. I tend to stop using kief after an hour or so, pulling it out occasionally like when I wake up to clear the head, or when my muscles are especially stiff.

I recomend BDK for muscle health issues, joint inflammation issues, pain issues, arthritis, autoimmune disorders, anxiety and PTSD issues, and especially migraines and headaches. BDK lifts one’s mood so it is also good for depression. Sprinkling a little BSK on some Kush flower also helps ease insomnia and promotes relaxation. Ask one of the TWC crew about kief, and boost your medical cannabis experience!

Granddaddy Purple, Berry Tasty, Berry Strong!

I am always excited when new medical cannabis strains come to my favorite dispensary, the Takoma Wellness Center, and they even sent out an email this week letting patients know they have a new strain out this week called “Granddaddy Purple”. The email said Granddaddy Purple, or “GDP”, is a very strong muscle-relaxing Indica. I was thrilled because I primarily use Indicas to treat my muscle spasms and stiffness due to fibromyalgia. The great crew over a TWC fixed me up with somewhat dark, olive green flower mixed with orange hairs, and a sheen of purple glistening with white terpenes. (See pic) The THC level of GDP is very high, at 20%. The only other cannabinoid measured was CBD and it was at 1%. I imagine the other 100 or so other cannabinoids are in there somewhere. In my research I found out that plants get a purple color from flavonoids, so GDP looks and smelled rich in flavonoids.

The bouquet of GDP as you break the flower apart is a very sharp, spicy, earthy aroma, with hints of cedar, sage, pepper, tabasco and licorice. I also sensed a tiny sour side with hints of citrus and lilac. There is also an ammonia-type tinge to it all, very musky.

I tried my delicious looking flower of GDP in a water pipe, and the taste and smoke at first is very mild and creamy, but then the smoke expands rapidly in your lungs and tends to make one cough a tad. What makes this strain so great though is the aftertaste! As you exhale GDP, you taste berry big time, and the aftertaste is very yummy. This is the best tasting strain I have ever tried for sure. In fact the berry aftertaste stays with you for a long time after exhaling. My lungs were not irritated even though the smoke expanded, and GP is a very, very pleasant smoke. I didn't get incredible "munchie attacks", but GDP did dry out my mouth somewhat, so have some water or coconut water and maybe some berries standing by.

The Indica effects of GDP are felt very quickly for my muscles relaxed almost instantly, especially around the neck and head area. The Indica muscle spasm reducing effects ripple out through the body, and melts away stiffness and stress. I soon felt GDP's Sativa-like effects a minute or two later, as the psychoactive cannabinoids of GDP come whooshing in and you are floating on a cloud of euphoria. GDP makes ones thoughts wander, so this is better for relaxation or night time. GDP is a strong Indica, so it does cause drowsiness after awhile. The effects of GDP lasted very long, over an hour after just one or two puffs from the water pipe. GDP is one of the most potent strains I have ever tried when it comes to duration. I imagine using GDP in tincture or edible form would almost give you all-day relief.

GDP is a strain that is especially good for any muscle related health issues, such as fibromyalgia, MS, Parkinson's and others. It is also great for depression, PTSD and anxiety disorders, for the calming psychoactive properties are very strong and effective. GDP is also good for treating pain and “icky feeling” issues like nerve pain, glaucoma, endometriosis, migraines, PMS, headaches, upset stomach and more. GDP has a calming effect on the body, nerves, and digestive system, so it is a good strain for appetite and digestive issues such as IBS, nausea, or diabetes. Since it is a strong muscle-relaxant GDP is ideal for insomnia and relaxation issues. I would also recommend GDP for skin related health issues such as eczema, psoriasis or shingles. Try the new, awesome Granddaddy Purple at Takoma Wellness Center today! You’ll be berry glad you did. : )

Blue Dream Boutique - The Hidden Gem

I have relied on Blue Dream "Classic" as my favorite and daily medical cannabis strain for over two years to treat my fibromyalgia symptoms, such as muscle spasm and stiffness, headaches, "Fibro-Fog", joint pain and anxiety to name just a few. When my muscle stiffness and pain levels are very high, I like to use some of the "BIg Dog" Specialty strains such as Skywalker OG or High Lyrical Content. One week when those strains weren't in, I decided to give Blue Dream "Boutique" a try to see how much of a better and more potent strain it was compared to it's little brother, Blue Dream Classic. It turned out I was very pleasantly surprised, because this hidden gem of a strain actually gives the "Big Dogs" a run for their money, and is hot on their heels. I should have tried Blue Dream Boutique months ago, and I suggest Takoma Wellness Center patients take a second look at this dark horse. David and Josh from Takoma Wellness center picked out a nice sticky and plump flower had dark orange hairs weaving through olive-green leaves, that was totally encrusted with white trichomes shimmering with flavonoids and terpenes.

When I broke apart the flower of Blue Dream Boutique, it had a spicy, warm, musky ammonia aroma side that also had a tinge of cedar, pepper, cinnamon, and sage. BDB also has a slight sour side, and I smelled citrus, lemon grass, and a dash of lime in the background. I tried my flower of BDB in a water pipe, and the smoke was very mild, milky and has a nice taste. The cucumber-nutty aftertaste is very pleasant, and BDB is a very pleasurable strain to smoke. This strain would be good for any time of the day, for it is effective yet somehow is "mild" like the Blue Dream strain is known for.

The effects of BDB are very quick, and very pronounced. I felt a wave of Sativa cannabinoids surge through my bloodstream and, and then radiate out from my stiff neck muscles. Then BDB melted my head muscles and almost instantly got rid of my headache, foggy head, and vertigo. It is great for a morning "wake up strain". BDB has a very strong Sativa-like effect on the brain, and eases migraines, ADHD, anxiety and helps you focus and calm down. The Indica side kicks in a few minutes later, and any muscle spasms and stiffness are eased, and joint and other pain is eased also. BDB's psychoactive properties are very euphoric and strong, and this strain puts you in a good mood, so it is great for PTSD and depression, and also glaucoma and nerve pain. BDB also calms the digestive system so it would be good strain for nausea, appetite issues and IBS. The effects lasted very long, about and hour or so after one puff. I am sure the tincture and edible form would last hours and be very effective.

The next time you see your favorite Specialty strain is out, ask Darryl, David, or any of the great staff at Takoma Wellness Center for a sniff of this great Boutique strain, for they are always glad to help and are very helpful. You just might be surprised about his hidden gem.

High Lyrical Content - "Play it again, Sam!"

"High Lyrical Content" is the NEW medical cannabis strain that has just come out onto the DC market, and today it was greeting me as I walked into my friendly neighborhood medical cannabis dispensary, the Takoma Wellness Center. New strains are always exciting of course, and the cultivators seem to be getting better and better each generation. I first checked out the cannabinoid levels, and they are very high; the THC is 19% and the CBD (cannabidiol) that is great for pain and muscle spasms is 3%. I picked up a cute little flower, and brought it home to try it out.

High Lyrical Content's bouquet is very spicy, strong and pungent, and I smelled a super blast of cherry, with citrus and pine also. High Lyrical Content also had a strong sour bouquet side, and it reminds me of sea salt and vinegar. HLC is one of the most strongest smelling strains I have encountered. The terpenes are very thick, coating dense, spongy, light green, budlets, surrounded by dark green leaves, with orange hairs intertwined through the flower.

The taste of the smoke of HLC in a water pipe is mild and grassy, but when breathing out through the nose the terpenes and flavonoids tickle the nose and invigorate the senses. HLC is a very pleasant and tasty smoke.

The Sativa effetcs and the high THC (19%) of HLC hit you very quickly, and the CBD (3%) and the THC almost instantly clear the head and relax the muscles. The psychoactive properties of HLC are very strong, and one's thoughts drift after just 5 minutes. To me, HLC is a hybrid that is Sativa dominant, with the Indica side in the background creeping up on you, and is more subtle. After about 15 minutes, the Indica side effects help ease pain, ease anxiety, ease joint inflammation, ease muscle spasm, and help you relax. The THC also helps one deal with pain through cognitive therapy if that is part of your treatment. The "couch lock effect" is in full form with this bad boy, so you won't get anything done, but your pain and health issues will be eased. This strain is good for the bath time, meditation, or relaxation.

HLC is a daytime Sativa-dominant medical cannabis strain that is good for waking up with. I would recommend HLC for pain, muscle spasms, joint inflammation, headaches, migraines, anxiety issues, ADHD ADD, appetite and digestive issues, and relaxing. The psychoactive properties are strong, so I caution on using it for PTSD and depression, although I felt my anxiety eased. My mind felt creative and I was energized mentally.

Stop by the Takoma Wellness Center today, and smell this great new strain, and see if it is right for your medical cannabis treatment program.

My Sour Diesel, or “Sour D”, came from Takoma Wellness Center, right off the Red Line Metro and near some great restaurants. Sour D comes in compact, dense, light olive small buds, with deep green, broad leaves, and tiny orange hairs weaving in and out.

The bouquet of Sour D is a strong, sour, citrus-like blast, and then I smelled sage, fennel, dill, hay, cocoa, and pepper. As you break open the sticky and spongy flower, your nose tingles from a tart, cherry aroma, with a chemical-like, “diesel” overtone; I guess that’s why it’s called “Sour D”! On top of the chemical aroma I smelled a vinegar, salty tingle that invigorated the senses.

I used a water pipe to try my Sour D, and the taste of Sour D when smoked is …shocker...sour and chemical tasting, with a tart, light smoke that tingles the nose and senses, and has a citrusy, sage-like aftertaste on the tongue. Sour D is a very tasty and pleasant smoke.

The pain relieving effects of Sour D are very quick and strong, as a feeling of ease and euphoria start from the solar plexus chakra, and radiates out to the limbs, and tingles the skin along the way. The circulatory system seems boosted and invigorated. My back neck muscles relaxed and, and my headache and anxiety were eased. My muscle spasms and my joint inflammation and pain were eased, and I felt very relaxed. Sour D is a strong strain that clears the “fibro-fog”, eases ADD/ADHD, and helps one calm and focus. This is a good strain to wake up with, and during the day. It lifts the mood, and eases depression and bad moods.

I recommend Sour D for nerve/neural pain, fibromyalgia, migraines, PMS, endometriosis, muscle spasm issues, MS, Parkinson's, appetite and digestive health issues, ADD/ADHD, anxiety issues, and depression. There are probably many more health issues that this awesome medical cannabis strain can treat. Talk to your health care worker at Takoma Wellness Center, and ask them about Sour Diesel for your health issue.

OG Kush: Strong Indica muscle relaxer

OG Kush is one medical cannabis strains I haven’t tried much, I mainly used it for medication at night to sleep once or twice. Josh Kahn at Takoma Wellness Pharmacy told me that this is a new batch, almost a new strain, and I should try it. The “OG” supposedly stands for “Ocean Garden”, a place in California that developed the strain from a Indica from the Kush Valley region. Kushes are known for their heavy Indica effects and strong muscle relaxing properties. I have been experiencing deep joint and muscle pain lately, so I decided to try OG Kush, and I am glad I did. OG Kush does have great anti-muscle spasm properties.

The first thing you notice about this “new” OG Kush is its stickiness, it is very gooey. The second thing you notice is the powerful aroma and bouquet, it is very strong and tingles the nose. The spicy side had a zing to it, with a warm, spicy cedar smell, with a dash of dill, mint and chili. I also smelled a spicy, bitter tinge, with hints of ammonia, vinegar and chives. The sweet side of OG Kush has a flowery, lilac-type scent with a dash of citrusy, lemongrass. The terpenes and flavonoids are very strong in this strain. I would not call this a “skunk” though.

The taste and smell of it as I burned the flower in my water pipe was chalky and strong, with grassy, spicy overtones, and a sharp, herbal sage and dill taste. It is not a mild smoke, the Kushes were never known for being mild, so I would recommend using a water pipe or maybe even an edible or a tincture. It is not overly harsh, but does tend to make one cough more than the other strains. OG leaves a milky, sour, creamy taste on the tongue.

The effects are pretty quick and strong, starting in the solar plexus or stomach area, and then radiated out towards the limbs. The muscles really begin to relax, and you feel a sense of calmness and well-being. After about 10 minutes the effects of OG reach up to the head and crown chakra, and dissolve away anxiety and stress, and OG Kush relaxes the mind, body and spirit. It cleared the “Fibro-Fog” and got rid of my headache. OG Kush also greatly eased my muscle and joint pain, and it also helped me get my mind off the pain and augmented my pain management cognitive therapy. There is a slight “couch-lock effect”, but overall it is not too incapacitating. I would recommend though only doing a Kush at night time, or when you are not driving or something like that. OG Kush is an Indica to me, with only slight Sativa properties. The later effects of OG Kush are a deep relaxation and calmness, and the muscle spasms and pain melt away naturally, safely, and effectively. It does tend to cause drowsiness, and is a great medication for insomnia, and is good for helping one get back to sleep if one wakes up at 4 AM and in pain.

I would recommend OG Kush for fibromyalgia, pain, insomnia, anxiety disorder, PTSD, ADD, ADHD, migraines, nerve pain, muscle spasms and pain, and other pain issues. Stop by the Takoma Wellness Pharmacy today and ask one of the friendly health care staff for a sniff of this wonderful medical strain!

Sativa Afghani - The "Happy Strain"

Sativa Afhgani is a new and original DC medical cannabis strain, and I picked up my flower from my dispensary, Takoma Wellness Center. The THC content is very high, 25%, and the CBD level is also high at 2%. CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of my “favorite cannabinoids” for it really helps with my muscle spasm and fibromyalgia health issues. The staff at TWC is always striving for new strains with various levels of the different cannabinoids. I have been using medical cannabis and Takoma Wellness Center for over a year now for my fibromyalgia, and I can’t imagine life without medical cannabis to treat my various symptoms naturally, safely, and effectively.

The bouquet of Sativa Afghani is mellow at first, then I smelled a sweet/bitter chemical/flowery aroma, really showcasing the bipolar hybrid qualities of this strain. Sativa Afghani is almost exactly 50% Sativa and 50% Indica, but it does lean slightly towards Sativa. The “Bitter Side” of Sativa Afghani reminded me of cucumber, sea salt and vinegar, and the "Sweet Side" of the strain has a flowery, blossom-like, lilac scent. As you break apart the flower, the terpenes and flavonoids tingle your nose with hints of sage, lemongrass. mint, ginger, cedar, black pepper and more. Sativa Afghani has an awesome bouquet.

The taste of Sativa Afghani from my water pipe felt slightly chalky, but was mild and pleasant. Sativa Afghani has a grassy, herbal taste, and the aromas mentioned earlier tingle the nose. The smoke is not harsh, and the aftertaste of mint and sage make Sativa Afghani a pleasant smoke. The lingering smoke is not “skunky” or strong-smelling.

The effects of Sativa Afghani are felt in the throat chakra almost immediately, and radiate out and clears out your headache, "Fibro-fog", or migraine very quickly and effectively. The sativa half helps one slow down the ADD and focus more, and this strain eases your anxiety big time. Sativa Afghani is a happy strain! : ) I felt the after-effects of the Indica later, and it radiated around my splenic chakra. Sativa Afghani is a daytime “sativa” strain, and really “wakes you up” with the blast of 25% THC.

Sativa Afghani’s effects last pretty long, and really digs down deep into the nerve pain, so I would really recommend this strain first for pain. I also recommend it for fibromyalgia, headaches, migraines, PTSD, anxiety issues, digestive health problems and depression. Sativa Afghani may also be great for many other health issues also, ask your dispensary health care worker at Takoma Wellness Center about it!

UPDATE: I have found Sativa Afghani is excellent for upset stomach, acid reflux, stomach aches and any health issue with digestion.

Magnificent Intentions

Magnificent relaxation....

Magnificent Intentions looks magnificent, it comes in these dense buds bristling with orange hairs, and it completely sparkles with terpenes. The aroma of Magnificent Intention is spicy, warm, with a grassy tinge such as dill and parsley, with a dash of cocoa and coffee.

My Magnificent Intention came from Takoma Wellness Center, and had 23% THC, and 11% of THCV, a little known cannabinoid that can increase the THC effect, but decrease the length of THC's effect. It is reported that THCV is good for anxiety and PTSD, and I agree. This strain is very calming to the mind. THCV has an “anti-munchie” effect and can suppress appetite so it’s NOT good for appetite issues. Magnificent Intentions also has .7% CBD and 1.8% of CBG, not too bad when you consider "<1%" negligible; so these are pretty significant levels of cannabinoids. Both of which are good for easing inflammation in joints, like many fibromyalgia patients suffer from.

The smell of Magnificent Intentions burning is hay-like and grassy, and not too skunky. The taste is spicy, sharp, and tingles the nose. I tasted mint, and jalapeño. The smoke is not harsh, and the aftertaste is a lightly sour, lemongrass taste. It is a pleasant strain to smoke.

The effects of Magnificent Intentions creeped up on me, and took effect after about 10-15 minutes. I felt it in the head first, and then my muscles relaxed. I would say this is a Hybrid with Sativa dominance. The Indica part of it is strong though, and it eases muscle spasms. I felt a sense of ease and euphoria after a while, and it calmed me. I would recommend this strain for pain, migraines, muscle pain and muscle spasm, PTSD, and anxiety issues.

Star 51 - Puts you in orbit and tingles the skin

David, the great new employee at Tacoma Wellness Center, saw that I was looking for a strain that was very effective in pain management, but it happened to be out that day, so he invited me to smell the delicious aroma of Star 51. Star 51 comes in sticky little flower buds, that are very moist, oily, and has a strong, chemical, skunk-like smell. The flavonoids were bursting from these bad boys. I decided to try this strain for my fibromyalgia medical cannabis pain management treatment. I was glad I did.

Star 51’s bouquet is fruity and cherry, and also has a strong, chemical-like, pine, ammonia aroma to it that tingled the nose as I crumbled the sticky flower. The smell when lit is very grassy and earthy, with a dash of skunk. Star 51’s taste had a sharp, sage-like herbal plant taste to it; I tasted coffee, cocoa and tobacco, and there is a slight, milky aftertaste. My mouth was slightly dry, but not too bad.

The effects are very immediate and started in the bloodstream and radiated out to the skin, easing my muscle spasms and stiffness, and easing the pain in my joints and muscles. The skin becomes tingly, and it is a very Indica-type buzz and eases muscle spasm issues, yet has a pretty strong Sativa-like effect and clears the headache and “fibro-fog”. I felt a sense of pleasure and euphoria after that, and my anxiety eased. The cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes caused good endorphins to surge through my bloodstream, and it eased my depression. Later, the Indica relaxing effects were primary, and you are able to relax or sleep. The munch effect was minimal, and Star 51 is a very pleasant strain to smoke.

I recommend Star 51 for fibromyalgia, muscle spasm issues, pain, anxiety, depression, migraines, PMS, PTSD, appetite and digestive issues among others. Star 51 might help some with sleep problems and ADD/ADHD issues also. Check out Star 51 next time when you are at Tacoma Wellness Center for your medical cannabis needs!

CO2 Hash: Merry 'n Berry

Boost and enhance your medical cannabis treatment

Hash comes from North Africa, and hash has been found to be very high in CBD, one of the many cannabinoids in medical cannabis that have health benefits, as well as an extremely high percentage of THC (42% in this case). The Jack Herer Hash I obtained was from the Takoma Wellness Center, located just off the Red Line Metro in Tacoma Park, DC. The experience was wonderful, and they are very professional and warm. TWC's new employee, David, helped me out with selecting my medical cannabis even allowing me to smell the bouquet and aroma of a strain. Jack Herer hash doesn't really have any bouquet or aroma though, it comes in small, oily chunks. I prefer to crumble the hash, and then sprinkle it on some flower to "boost" my medical cannabis dosage, and add that "extra" CBD that is very important to pain management and other health issues.

The smell of Jack Herer Hash when burned is very pungent and spicy, as one would expect hash to be. The taste is earthy, peppery, sweet and leaves a cherry, chalky aftertaste. I taste a small bit of chocolate and cinnamon in there too.

The effects are very immediate, as I felt a rush of cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes surge through my bloodstream and they cleared out the pain, headache, and "fibro-fog" cobwebs. This is great for the morning when muscle spasm issues and stiffness are at their worst. The effect then rippled out through the skin and into the extremities, easing my pain and muscle spasms. Later the effect is euphoria, and one feels like you are "floating on a cloud".

I recommend Jack Herer Hash for pain and muscle spasm issues, especially anyone with fibromyalgia. Jack Herer hash is also good for migraines, nerve pain, PTSD, anxiety issues, insomnia, depression, digestive and appetite health issues and more. I suggest getting some today, one can even start out with 1/2 gram, and sprinkle it on your favorite flower, such as Blue Dream or Star 51, to help extend and enhance your medical cannabis treatment.

"Luke...I am your medicine"

I always love medical cannabis strains with high CBD content, and when balanced with THC at that "Goldilocks middle", it usually means strong pain relief, and it was true with Skywalker OG. The pretty high 10% CBD content, along with the 13% THC, are both balanced well together. The flavonoids are especially potent in this strain too.

Skywalker's bouquet smelled of pine, ammonia, and the taste was a very tart cherry, with a milky, chalky aftertaste. A small tinge of chocolate was in there too. Skywalker OG is very flavorful.

The effects crept on me somewhat, and started in the crown chakra, and rippled out to the skin and then the extremities. Skywalker gives a "sativa-like" Indica effect, where it relaxed my muscles like and Indica, yet my skin tingled. It seemed to free up my muscles, and i was able to stand up and move around better. This is a great "morning medicine", for it clears the head but has minimal psychoactive effects. Skywalker did clear up the headache and fog, but it has the effect of making one think inward and may not be the best for depression.

I would recommend OG Skywalker for acute and/or chronic pain, especially nerve pain. Migraine sufferers might benefit from this strain. The high CBD percentage mixed with I think the right amount of THC and the other cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids makes a great pain medication. The best place to get OG Skywalker os Takoma Wellness Pharmacy, for the staff is very knowledgeable, professional, and always a pleasure to deal with.

Kasimu and The Cowboy - Yee Haw! Great balance of THC and CBD!

Kasimu and The Cowboy: There has been a lot of talk about "CBD only strains" like Charlotte's Web and that's great, but as an adult I prefer flowers with not only high levels of THC, but high levels of CBD also. The two I am finding have a synergistic effect, an entourage effect, and can play off of each other. In the right balance, it can provide great relief for muscle spams, pain and migraines. I have been hoping someone would develop a strain very high in CBD, but not leave the THC behind.

When I saw this new strain "Kasimu and the Cowboy" come into Takoma Wellness Center, I saw the THC and CBD levels both pretty high (THC 17% - CBD 10%) so I decided to try it. I was wonderfully surprised. I may have found a great strain to deal with my fibromyalgia, maybe even my "Favorite Strain of All Time". The "CBD rush" melted my muscle spasms and pain away and lifted the "fibro fog" from my head. I was so ecstatic that I visited the pharmacy the next day to get some more.

It is very sticky and skunky, but the "couch lock" effects are minimal, probably due to the CBD. Kasimu and the Cowboy has indica muscle relaxing effects and eases joint inflammation, as well as get rid of your headaches or migraines. If you have fibromyalgia and/or a muscle spasticity health issue, I would recommend trying this strain.

Blue Dream is my "everyday medicine"

Blue Dream classic is a nice, mild flower that helps me deal with my chronic muscle spasms and fibromyalgia. It has a nice, Indica muscle relaxing effect, and a dash of migraine-clearing Sativa properties. It is mild enough to use throughout the day, and does not give you "couch-lock" or make you "over anxious" as some strong Sativas can do. The price is great for someone who is on a budget or who requires a lot of medicine. I also got off Percocets and Tramadol for dealing with my everyday pain as a result of medical cannabis, and Blue Dream. Medical cannabis is 100% natural and 100% non-toxic, and it is impossible to "overdose".

Blue Dream has an earthy, ammonia bouquet and aroma. The effects of relaxation and pain relief hit quickly, and it gently floats you on a cloud of Blue Dream for hours. I had no bad side effects or headache. The taste is fruity and not harsh. The flavonoids are especially invigorating to the mind and muscles. Blue Dream is my "go to medicine" for every day use. I have been using for almost a year now and have gained weight back and I feel and sleep better. The psychoactive effects are mild, so it does not increase anxiety.

I recommend this strain for auto-immune disorders, fibromyalgia, pain, migraines, PTSD, insomnia, ADD, ADHD, anxiety disorders and muscle spasm issues. I recommend the Takoma Wellness Center in seeking Blue Dream, and their well-trained staff will help you get this great medical cannabis strain.

Dispensary Review:

Takoma Wellness Center

They treat you like family, best dispensary.

I have been a DC Medical Marijuana patient for almost a year now, and I picked Takoma Wellness Center as my chosen dispensary back in 2013, and it has been a marvelous experience. The staff is professional yet warm, and they treat you like family. I have been using the various strains to treat my fibromyalgia, and they have helped me ease my muscle spasms and pain, gain 20 pounds back, and ease my other symptoms such as insomnia, etc. They helped me get off Tramadol, a prescription pill that can destroy your organs and even kill you. Cannabis is 100% non-toxic and natural. I can use it as a daily muscle relaxant and no bad side effects.

Takoma Wellness Center is always improving, whether it be the dispensary itself, new strains, new forms such as kief and oils, and they never rest. They have grown their menu of strains to be extensive, and one can can find many strains; they have sativas, indicas, hybrids, and info on what is the dominant strain and the levels of the various cannabinoids.

I continue to go there, and would never even think about going to another dispensary, they have a customer for life and I highly recommend them! : )
