3PAC

A Bearable Lightness

3Pac feels fairly sativa, but its effects are low key. It proves how sometimes a void can be a good thing: while you get a real sativa quality, the lightness in all the effects makes you feel less jostled out of equlibrium. It is for someone who likes sativas, but not something too psychoactive.

Potency = 9.25

Effects = some pinching (behind the eyes feeling), and some head numbing and some body numbing

Ideal for: ADHD and fibroymalgia, some help with headaches (but really needs to be combined with a CBD for this), and some help with physical pain

Mixes seamlessly with (CBD): Sunflower Blue, Rutherford B. Haze, Kashmir Platinum, Painkiller XL, Bubbalicious, Strawberry Jack, MediHaze, and CBD Blue Shark

Mixes seamlessly with (THC): (Classic) OG Haze, Orange Sunshine, REM, Kashmir Black, Kashmir Fire, Sunflower Purple, Sunflower Green, Facewreck Haze, Face On Fire, Knock-Out Kush, KushZilla, LA Chocolat, Chocolope, Larry OG, (Classic) Bubba Kush, Silver Kush, Girl Scout Cookies, Purple Trainwreck, New Jack City, District Dream, Gorilla Glue (#1 or #4), Northeast OG, Kalashnikov, Diesel, Do-Si-Do, Sunset (Sherbert), Fruity Pebbles OG, White Widow, 3Pac, Maui Crush, Grandpa Abe, Tropical Punch, Snowman, Kolossus, Apple Turnover, Lost Coast Hashplant, (Classic) Purps, Heavy Duty Frutti, Jack Herer, Purple Pineapple Kush, Ed Rosenthal, Green Punch, and It Was All A Dream

Face on Fire Small Buds (SALE)

The Low Key Feel Good OG

The OG genetics are popular for a reason. It's like life slows down when you have a member of this strain family. They are usually principally calm, but Face On Fire like Goji OG is more psychoactive. It's not quite as heady as Goji though, it's more in-between that one and where you normally find them. It'll brighten your day, but not be overactive.

Potency = 9.75

Effects = lifts you up (a low level mood elevation), pinching (behind the eyes feeling), and head and body numbing

Ideal for: mood elevation, headaches, stress, and physical pain

Mixes seamlessly with (CBD): Sunflower Blue, Kashmir Platinum, Painkiller XL, and CBD Blue Shark

Mixes seamlessly with (THC): Kashmir Black, Kashmir Fire, LA Chocolat, Chocolope, (Classic) Bubba Kush, Northeast OG, White Widow, 3Pac, Snowman, Kolossus, Heavy Duty Frutti, and Ed Rosenthal

Oil Cartridge: LA Chocolat

Effect > Taste

This tastes really strong. I could see it being too much for some people, but in terms of effect it's rather nice to get that full terpene flavor, and I will mention that after a couple days you notice the taste less (you get a little bit use to it). I, also, did find that the substance worked well in a cartridge. I care about effect very much, and little over taste, so I am probably more accommodating to this one than most people. Maybe try drinking some lemon water/flavored water with it?

As far as LA Chocolat, it's a nice chill strain that won't make you very tired. It's peaceful and kind of low key. It works well for headaches, stress, and physical pain, plus it's anti-spasmodic. There are three different strains I've found that it individually makes a great blend with: Fruity Pebbles OG, Bubba Kush, and Maui Crush.

White Widow (Shake)

A Serene Presence

White Widow is a calm hybrid. There is a strong body effect from the indica side, but overall it has a low key character. It's a strain for when you just want something even, not too energetic, drowsy, euphoric, heady, etc. With White Widow, you are relaxed but aware. If you like LA Chocolat, you should definitely try it. They feel very similar, but White Widow is a bit more sativa, while LA Chocolat is a bit more indica. They are good compliments for each other.

Potency = 9.25

Hyperactive Sativa

The Australians enjoy cannabis just like we do, and with their Aussie Blues we have a heady sativa that has the middle of the head feeling like Green Crack or Pincher's Creek. With this one though, that feeling is more subtle and there is also a slight active body effect. It's lighter in the head, with a hyperactivity. That latter aspect can make it better for those with ADHD or fibromyalgia, but that former aspect can make it cause more anxiousness. I recommend blending it with a CBD strain so that this strong sativa goes down right.

Potency = 9.5

Effects = numbing, some compressing, and some nerve vibrations

Ideal for: ADHD and fibromyalgia, some help with migraines/headaches, and some help with physical pain

Mixes seamlessly with (CBD): Dreamsicle Skunk and Kashmir Gold

Mixes seamlessly with (THC): REM, Pincher's Creek, Goji OG, Northeast OG, OG Ghost Train Haze #1, Skywalker Kush, Critical Mass, Apple Turnover, The (Classic) Purps, Sugar In My Bowl, Blue Cheese, Critical Kush, AK-47, and Blue Hammer

Kashmir Platinum (SALE)

Top Level Physicality

The CBD Kashmir strains have unique body effects. Kashmir Platinum's is a really nice smooth feeling, similar to Strawberry Jack's (which is a good strain but doesn't quite have the potency it use to have, and with these Kashmir strains you get an extra level of physicality). It's like the standard numbing body effect that is common, but more relaxing. I'm certainly a fan of the feeling. Abatin's description of its lineage makes sense. This is a more clear headed Kashmir Black #3, with also some resemblance to OG Haze (that body effect comes to mind for one); and, it has the behind the eyes feeling that both OG Haze and Kashmir Black #3 do. Also, like Indo, I noticed an extra level of psychoactivity compared to strains with similar THC:CBD ratios.

Potency = 9.75

Effects = smoothed out body, pinching, and numbing

Ideal for: great for physical pain, good for headaches, and good for stress

OG Ghost Train Haze (Shake)

Stimulate Your Mind

OG Ghost Train Haze #1 is a strong energetic sativa that is good for physical activity. While Snowman, Chocolope, and Shackzilla have a more significant presence of the energizing effect, Ghost Train Haze is pretty far on the sativa spectrum, which enhances both the energy aspect and the headiness. This can cause anxiousness, but mixing it with Dreamsicle Skunk or Kashmir Gold should solve that. It's a good addition to the energetic strains in D.C.

Potency = 9.5

Effects = numbing, some compressing, some energizing, and some nerve vibrations

Ideal for: ADHD, fibromyalgia, some help with headaches/migraines, and some help with physical pain

Multi-level Headache/Stress Terpene Combo

With these high CBD low THC varieties, you get a very strong body effect, but other than a calming head feeling, it's not very psychoactive. To me, it feels like there is something missing, and I would say that also about high THC low CBD varieties. THC and CBD were more meant to work in conjunction. I use significantly more THC than CBD, but my CBD use isn't minimal, and it's always present. To solve my dilemma, I blend, so there is no issue with me using a ratio like Daytime has.

Most of Abatin's cartridges are mixed. This is more efficient, and they can direct the terpenes as they see fit. The issue some may have with this is it creates a different character than a single strain's terpenes. There is more going on, but this also means there is more to provide. It's a subjective decision that you will have to make yourself. From an objective point of view, though, Abatin's cartridges are magnificent in how clean they hit. Sometimes I can't believe that it is a concentrate. The growers from California show their quality here.

Daytime can be a beast for headaches, stress, and physical pain, with keeping in mind that for the first two you will probably need to add more THC into the mix. It brings all the 3 levels of the pressurizing effects on the head (behind the eyes feeling, middle of the head, and headband). The middle of the head feeling is more pronounced, and there is a calming numbing one as well. The strain has multiple levels of effects, but all of those are of the same nature, and the two body effects fit well together. In general, you could blend it with anything that doesn't have a movement body effect.

Effects = numbing, compressing, some pinching, some compacting, some body numbing, and nerve stiffness

Ideal for: physical pain, anti-spasmodic, migraines/headaches, and stress

*There are numerous studies on this already, but I can personally attest to CBD being great for bones. In a major way, it helped me heal from some stress fractures.

Oil Cartridge: Classic Jack (SALE)

How to Take Down an Empire

Classic Jack is the famous Jack Herer, a legendary strain named after a legendary activist whose work we benefit from. Jack has a distinct euphoria that makes me feel like I should be doing something, yet it has a nice level of hybridization so I won't feel stressed from its sativa side. If you are looking to refocus some thoughts, it could be a good choice. As a concentrate, it will easily take hold of your senses.

Effects = a "let's get going" euphoria, pinching, some head numbing, and some body numbing

Ideal for: mood elevation, headaches, some help with stress, some help with physical pain, and could help some with ADHD & fibromyalgia

Yet Another Good Cartridge

We have yet another good oil cartridge in D.C. Appelles' ones are thicker like Phyto's, which means they are easier to get to hit hard, but frankly from an overall quality standpoint for your money you can't go wrong. They are all effective and have a good amount of concentrate in them. I'm happy with all of these products-I use all of them.

I've reviewed the strain Skywalker Kush twice before. It has what I call the head clearing effect, which is a spacey feeling. It's a good effect for recreational use, and I believe would be helpful for anxiety. This is a strain that fits its name, with it being spacey and heady. It's not good for physical pain like many other indicas, but it gives you a really nice feeling in your head. It's one of my personal favorite heady strains just because it's fun.

Effects = head clearing, numbing, and some relaxing (slightly drowsy)

Ideal for: anxiety, some help with stress, and some help with insomnia

Harlequin Blue Afghani (Shake)

Productive but Relaxed

It's nice to see Holistic Remedies make another CBD strain, especially a 2:1 THC:CBD, which isn't common enough. Harlequin Blue Afhani has that feeling of wanting to get up and do something from Harlequin, but then that Blue Afghani pulls you down. The strain settles in the middle between being an energizing one and a couch-lock one. It would be good for a non-physical type of work. The 2:1 THC:CBD ratio gives you a decent level of psychoactivity, but not an overly active amount.

Potency = 9.75

Effects = numbing, some elevating, and somewhat slow nerve vibrations

Ideal for: physical pain, some mood elevation, and may help some with ADHD and fibromyalgia

Mixes seamlessly with (CBD): Sunflower Blue, Tangie CBD, and MediHaze

Diesel

A Quiet Sweetness

Diesel has a really nice skunky smell, and a light sweet feeling. I'm a fan of Sour Diesel, but I think I might personally like Diesel more. It's more low key. It's nice to see a number of strains from this family now in D.C., as it is a really pleasant group of strains.

Kashmir Fire

More Kashmir Black than Kashmir Red

Kashmir Fire is a calm hybrid that feels like it is a bit more on the sativa side. I quite like it. It's a little more sativa version of Bubba Kush (or Kashmir Black #3). It has the same earthy feeling as those strains, with a little bit more headiness.

Potency = 9.75

Effects = pinching, and head and body numbing

Oil Cartridge: Master Kush

Sooth & Relax

This is an intriguing blend. It mixes two strains with a singular focus where effects are concerned, which makes them easily mixable, with each other and then with other strains after that. There is the relaxing drowsy indica quality in Master Kush mixed with the soothing mood elevating sativa quality in Tangie. Tangie makes the tiredness aspect more mild, and the two effects flow well together. It's a sit-down blend, not a knock-out one. You can mix it with virtually anything that doesn't have an energizing effect or different drowsy one (hybrid kick-back). I would recommend it for improving mood and for treating low levels of stress (can increase its capacity there by adding CBD). There is a slight drowsiness to this heady blend, which means it's not for everyone for regular use.

Oil Cartridge: Green Crack

Sativa for Headaches

Green Crack is known for being a strain that doesn't cause as much stress as most sativas. Why it is this way I can explain. As I have mentioned before, there are 3 pressurizing effects on the head that are stress relieving (they also treat head pain). Usually, a hybridized sativa has the least intense of the 3-the behind the eyes feeling, or what I call the pinching effect. Green Crack, on the other hand, has the more intense middle-of-the-head compressing feeling. This results in it being less stress inducing than one would expect, and it also makes it a sativa that is better for headaches than most.

As I mentioned before, I was anticipating Holistic Remedies making pure cartridges for a while, and am enjoying that we now have them. Holistic has a nice selection of strains to offer us. These have a good amount in them and work well like all the oil cartridges.

Effects = compressing, numbing, and some body numbing

Ideal for: migraines/headaches, stress (BUT only when mixed with a CBD-it's too heady on its own), and some help with physical pain

Mixes seamlessly with (CBD): Royal Medic and *CBD Therapy,

Mixes seamlessly with (THC): *Pincher's Creek, Goji OG, Northeast OG, Head Trip, Limonene Dream, Mango Crush, Green Love Potion, Critical Mass, Apple Turnover, Acapulco Gold, OG Kush, Blue OG, Berry Bomb, Cheese, Ed Rosenthal, and Blue Hammer

*It makes a great mix with CBD Therapy. It's a good blending idea if Holistic Remedies wants to offer DC patients more varied THC:CBD ratios. I'd love too see products with like a 3:1 THC:CBD ratio for instance. Of course if the patient just gets each cartridge though, that will let them always be in control of the ratio. That's what I've been doing this week, and there is just nothing more optimal than a great blend where one can vary the amounts of each strain used.
*Pincher's Creek is like a stronger Green Crack.

Oil Cartridge: OG Kush

Hybridized Kush

These Phyto cartridges are easier to get to hit hard, which is definitely a positive. They of course have a wider surface area. Be aware, though, of how easy it is to take huge hits, and they do hit a bit harsher. Also, make sure with this one that you are turning it from the bottom when taking it off the battery. All 3 of the types of pure cartridges I have tested have done well in terms of quantity, and they all fall into a similar range.

Some believe OG Kush is a descendant of Chemdawg and Hindu Kush. The bilateral head effect could be an influence from Chemdawg, and the anti-spasmodic body effect as well as the slight drowsiness could be influences from Hindu Kush. Chemdawg adds complexity, while Hindu Kush makes it more laid back. I don't know if this rumor is true, but it does make sense. I wouldn't think of OG Kush having a euphoria as I've seen claimed online, so much as being relaxing and dealing with headaches as well as stress. Simply in terms of its effect profile, it is quite similar to CBD Therapy. You could get a cartridge of each, and use them at the same time with no problem.

Effects = compressing, some head numbing, some hybrid kick-back (slightly drowsy), and nerve stiffness

Ideal for: migraines/headaches, stress, physical pain, and antispasmodic

Mixes seamlessly with (CBD): CBD Therapy

Mixes seamlessly with (THC): Pincher's Creek, Northeast OG, Purple Trainwreck, Apple Turnover, Critical Mass, Pineapple Express, Cheese, Ed Rosenthal, and Blue Hammer

Oil Cartridge: Candy Jack

Not Too Sweet

Candy Jack has a lower level mood elevation, which makes it good for anyone to enjoy regularly. It is the same effect you see in Bubbalicious, Head Trip, Holy Grail Kush/Holy Purple Grail, and Blue Hammer. Although it is not as strong an effect as a full on euphoria level one, the mood elevation aspect is the only significant effect present in this strain, which means it is more pronounced, and the sativa leaning character also adds to the headiness. One way to think of it is as the most mood elevating strain that's good for regular use. Another way is as a Jack Herer that anybody could use often. Additionally, it tastes great.

Effects = bringing up feeling, some pinching, some head numbing and some body numbing

Ideal for: mood elevation, some help with headaches, and some help with physical pain

Mixes seamlessly with (CBD): Sunflower Blue, Painkiller XL, Bubbalicious, MediHaze, and CBD Blue Shark

Mixes seamlessly with (THC): Kashmir Black, Kashmir Red, Orange Sunshine, REM, KushZilla, Chocolope, LA Chocolat, Holy Grail Kush (& Holy Purple Grail), Facewreck Haze, Sunflower Green, Sunflower Yellow, Tangie, The Overnight Scenario, Gorilla Glue (#4 or #1), New Jack City, District Dream, (Classic) Bubba Kush, Northeast OG, Kalashnikov, Fruity Pebbles OG, Lemon Cookies, Maui Crush, Snowman, Shackzilla, Kolossus, Sugar In My Bowl, Tropical Punch, Heavy Duty Frutti, Buffalo Soldier, Amnesia Haze, AK-47, Ed Rosenthal, Critical Kush, It Was All A Dream, and Green Punch

*I gave my overall view of these cartridges on my review of the OG Kush one. I'm a fan of all the different pure cartridges frankly.
*Just a further explanation: The reason the lowest level mood elevation effects (bringing up feeling, elevating, uplifting, and soothing) are good for anyone to use regularly, but the others are not is that when you add a euphoria you add a significant level of headiness and anxiousness. As a part of a rotation, most are fine with this type of strain, but under consistent use it can stress them out. If you want more of a mood changer, euphoria is the way to go, but if changing your mood isn't your main focus, than for a regular mood lift the category with Candy Jack is generally better.

Larry OG

Laid Back Hybrid

Larry OG is a very chill strain that won't put to sleep those use to indicas. It has a good amount of the behind the eyes feeling with a calming numbing one (in both the head and the body), and it has a slight amount of the hybrid drowsy effect. Because there is only a little bit of that latter one, it won't knock you out hard. I think of it more as a hybrid imitation of an indica than an indica-like hybrid. I know that sounds like the same thing, however it is not quite. It's less drowsy than say a strain like The Purps, but it's next in line after that one.

Potency = 9.75

Effects = pinching, some hybrid kick-back (slight drowsiness), and head and body numbing

Ideal for: stress/anxiety, headaches, and physical pain

Mixes seamlessly with: Kashmir Black, Rutherford B. *It makes a great blend with Sunflower Blue & Granddaddy Purple (3 strain mix). It's a laid back entourage effect with a little mood elevation. I highly recommend people try the great blends. Any seamless mix will work fine for creating a more specified medicine, but with these special mixes you get an increase of effectiveness, and they are significantly more enjoyable. You don't have to use an even amount of each strain. Build yourself the best genetics you can for your condition, and your time of day. Don't just limit yourself to only doing one strain at once. I know mixes feel off usually if you do them at random, but you won't have that problem with my method built around the effects profiles. Personally, I only vaporize blends (both the seamless and great ones). It's the best approach when done properly. This is that next level stuff. Here is every great blend I have found so far not including the one in this review (seamless recommendations are found with every review obviously): Sunflower Blue & Snowman, Painkiller XL & Facewreck Haze, Holy Purple Grail & Strawberry Jack, Sunflower Green & Sunflower Yellow, Sunset & Grapefruit Kush, Facewreck Haze & Grapefruit Kush, Royal Medic & Pincher's Creek, LA Chocolat & Fruity Pebbles OG, Silver Kush & Purple Pineapple Kush, Honeydew Kush & Midnight Skunk, (Classic) OG Haze & Holy Purple Grail, Purple Trainwreck & Green Love Potion, (Classic) OG Haze & Gorilla Glue #4, Royal Medic & Northeast OG, (Classic) OG Haze & Blue Dream, Rutherford B. CBD Therapy

Truly Discover CBD

CBD is something everyone who uses cannabis should love. Unfortunately, many don't, so let me tell you more about why you should. In the stigmatization of weed, CBD has been held up as something it is not. It's not true that CBD is non-psychoactive. CBD is, in fact, calming. As Dr. Charles Whitfield said at the recent Cannabis Life Conference, "CBD is antipsychotic and THC is not, otherwise they are the same." At the molecular level, there is only a tiny difference between THC and CBD. Yes, it is true that CBD milds THC, but this also makes higher levels of THC more tolerable; and, more importantly, CBD also enhances THC. If you only use a little CBD, you can actually get more psychoactivity. This is easily done by creating a mix, or using a THC concentate with a CBD flower.

I have for several months now been using some level of CBD at all times I have cannabis, and I am less tired, sleep better, feel less anxious, and get a higher level of medical relief. While the negatives around cannabis are wildly exaggerated, a number of them do have some truth. What's amazing, though, is that you can do away with these through regular CBD use. It truly is magic. Try it (at any level you desire) and you'll start seeing great results after the first few weeks. CBD is a must for everybody.

CBD Therapy is fairly mild by itself, but there is a decent head buzz. The calming body effect feels a little more pronounced. It has the same head effect as a number of other CBD strains in DC, including Kashmir Gold, Honeydew Kush, Dreamsicle Skunk, Royal Medic, and CBD Critical Cure. They all, though, have different body effects, which works out well. The head effect that I am referring to, which I call "compressing," is one of the trio of stress reducing/headache relieving effects that directly impact the head in a physical manner. This one is in between the behind the eyes feeling ("pinching") and the headband effect ("compacting") in terms of intensity. I like it for my migraines (it's bilateral).

Potency = 10

Effects = compressing, hybrid kick-back (it's like the hybrid version of the relaxing indica feeling-there is a slight drowsiness), some head numbing, and body numbing

Ideal for: physical pain, anxiety/stress, and migraines/headaches

This is the first Specialé strain I have tried, and you can definitely see and taste the high terpene content.

Potency = 9.25

Effects = some compressing (helps with headaches & stress), some elevating (lifts mood), some relaxing (slightly drowsy), some head numbing, and body numbing

Shatter: LA Chocolat

High Quality Concentrate

Alternative Solutions stepped their game up with the shatter they've created. It is good to see competition in D.C.-that benefits the patients. We now have two growers making pure cartridges, and two growers making high quality concentrates. The patients get more choices. Like Alternative tells you, the shatter is easy to handle and it's potent. There is a different feel between this concentrate and the ones Holistic Remedies makes, because of the different extraction methods, but for most patients that probably won't matter very much. They will probably make their decision based on the strain. I believe this one-LA Chocolat-is a good concentrate to use, because it gives you an indica feeling without being nearly as drowsy as you would expect with that (not the relaxing indica feeling I should mention, though-the more elusive one to describe). With these THC concentrates, it is very important to have some CBD on the side. I've also tried their premium with the Acapulco Gold, which was very nice, but with that strain it is even more important to add CBD in some way. This is of course no big deal, as it is easy to do (with an edible, flower, or another concentrate). Concentrates are just a great way of getting quick and highly satisfactory relief.

Head to Toe Relaxation

Do-Si-Do is a relaxing indica dominant strain. The head effect isn't overly active, but it's calming, which goes nicely with the body effect. While I wouldn't recommend it for serious amounts of stress, it has a soothing feeling.

Potency = 9.5

Effects = some numbing, some relaxing (slightly drowsy), and body relaxing

Ideal for: physical pain, some help with insomnia, some help with stress/anxiety, and some help with physical brain conditions

Mixes seamlessly with: (Classic) OG Haze, CBD Critical Cure, Facewreck Haze, Holy Grail Kush, Gorilla Glue #4, Skywalker Kush, Girl Scout Cookies, Tangie, Kalashnikov, Head Trip, Northeast OG, Sunset, Maui Crush, Green Love Potion, Tropical Punch, Lost Coast Hashplant, The (Classic) Purps, Sugar In My Bowl, Old Amsterdam, Purple Pineapple Kush, Berry Bomb, Blue OG, Ed Rosenthal, Master Kush, and Pineapple Skunk

*Thanks David for the kind words. Mixing is great when done right.

Reorient

Acapulco Gold is a very nice Mexican strain. It brings some energy in a way where you can easily avoid being discombobulated. Part of this is due to its body effect, and part of it is due to its strong relieving pressure in the head. With the strain, you won't suddenly feel the urge to be active, but you will still have help with focusing.

Potency = 8.75

Effects = some energizing, compressing, and head and body numbing

Ideal for: ADHD, fibromyalgia, migraines, stress, physical pain, and physical head conditions

Mixes seamlessly with: Kashmir Red, Royal Medic, CBD Critical Cure, REM, Pincher's Creek, Sunflower Yellow, Goji OG, Northeast OG, Purple Trainwreck, MediHaze, Limonene Dream, Kolossus, Shackzilla, Critical Mass, Cheese, Blue OG, Merry 'n Berry, Amnesia Haze, Ed Rosenthal, and Blue Hammer

*The compressing effect can be good for migraines and the headache of meningitis. It's also important to add CBD and a body effect.

Painkiller XL

Stress Free Sativa

Painkiller XL, like MediHaze and Royal Medic, is a stress relieving and pain treating CBD sativa. The head effect is significant, but it has a light presence. It is a balanced head and body strain, with the body effect building up.

Potency = 9.75

Effects = pinching, some numbing, and nerve stiffness

Ideal for: stress, physical pain, antispasmodic, and physical head conditions

Mixes seamlessly with: Kashmir Black, Orange Sunshine, Sunflower Purple, Sunflower Green, Knock-Out Kush, LA Chocolat, Chocolope, *Facewreck Haze, KushZilla, Kalashnikov, Gorilla Glue #4, New Jack City, District Dream, Girl Scout Cookies, Silver Kush, (Classic) Bubba Kush, Northeast OG, Bubbalicious, Purple Trainrweck, Sunset, Maui Crush, Fruity Pebbles OG, Snowman, CBD Blue Shark, Heavy Duty Frutti, Tropical Punch, Grandpa Abe, Purple Pineapple Kush, AK-47, Green Punch, and It Was All A Dream

*It makes a great mix with Facewreck Haze.
*Since I last posted a list of great mixes, I have found six more. They are: Painkiller XL & Facewreck Haze, Holy Purple Grail & Strawberry Jack, Sunflower Green & Sunflower Yellow, Sunset & Grapefruit Kush, Facewreck Haze & Grapefruit Kush, and Royal Medic & Pincher's Creek.
*The pinching effect can be good for cluster headaches, a build up of stress, and trigeminal neuralgia. CBD also helps with all three of these.

Oil Cartridge: Gorilla Glue #1

More Options

I've been anticipating Holistic Remedies creating these for a while now, and am pumped they are finally out. For those of us enjoying Abatin's pure CO2 cartridges, now we have more choices. Holistic Remedies' cartridges hit a tad bit harsher, but there are a ton of hits in these little guys; and, they still taste and feel clean. While Abatin creates mixes based on terpenes and THC:CBD ratio, Holistic uses their selection of strains. It's something different to have as an option. These cartridges are a convenient, highly effective medicine. With a few deep pulls, most patients will be good.

At Ease

While Sunflower Purple has a significant indica feel, which the antispasmodic body effect adds to, it isn't as intense or drowsy as some other indicas; but, at the same time, the strength is fantastic. Those that like indicas will find it good for destressing.

Potency = 9.75

Effects = pinching, some numbing, some relaxing (slightly drowsy), and nerve stiffness

Ideal for: stress, physical pain, antispasmodic, physical brain related conditions, and some help with insomnia

Mixes seamlessly with: Kashmir Black, Facewreck Haze, KushZilla, LA Chocolat, Knock-Out Kush, Holy Grail Kush, Girl Scout Cookies, (Classic) Bubba Kush, Kalashnikov, Gorilla Glue #4, New Jack City, District Dream, Purple Trainwreck, Northeast OG, Fruity Pebbles OG, Maui Crush, Sunset, CBD Blue Shark, Tropical Punch, Heavy Duty Frutti, Lost Coast Hashplant, The (Classic) Purps, Grandpa Abe, Pineapple Purple Kush, Ed Rosenthal, and Master Kush

*This is my 100th strain review. For the occasion, I have decided to provide a sort of rubric for my reviews. This will be especially helpful for the older ones, where I didn't do as good a job of explaining them.
- On the potency ratings, they have nothing to do with the effects. Strains that are balanced, or more focused on the body, are good for everyone, and at any time. With strains that are especially heady, euphoric, or tiring, you don't want to use them as much.
- If I don't specifically refer to the body/nerves, then I always mean head effects. Type of effects can make a strain heady (opposites or euphoria), but also the balance plays a major part. Uncommonly, Master Kush is an indica without a body effect, making it heady.
- Euphorics, as I label them, are major mood changers that do not do anything else significantly. Those with a euphoria have significant mood elevation, and those with an elevating, bringing up feeling, uplifting, or soothing effect are low level mood elevators that are good for everyone to use regularly. All of these feelings are more commonly associated with sativas, but you see them in hybrids, and some indicas.
- The pinching, compressing, and compacting effects are pressurizing ones that help with stress/anxiety (compacting would be the most intense and pinching the least). They are associated with hybrids or indicas.
- Relaxing is the drowsy effect found in many indicas, and some hybrids, which is good for insomnia and stress/anxiety.
- The movement body effect which I call nerve vibrations is good for physical pain and activity.
- The still body effect nerve stiffness is antispasmodic.
- What I call the head clearing effect many would refer to as spacey.
- Numbing is a standard feeling. In the body, it makes one tired to a degree. Body effects in general add a level of drowsiness, but they also treat pain.
- Use CBD regularly. If you want something more heady, then sometimes mix a strain that meets that requirements with a CBD one.
- Once they find something they like, many people get stuck using the same strain again and again. Changing it up is good. I would recommend trying strains that fit a similar profile. If you like Blue Dream, then try REM, District Dream, Pineapple Express, and Hawaiian Trainwreck. If you like Bubba Kush, then try Kashmir Black, Heavy Duty Frutti, and Grapefruit Kush. If you like Granddaddy Purple, then try Sunflower Green, Purple Trainwreck, and Grandpa Abe. If you like MediHaze, then try CBD Critical Cure, Royal Medic, and Harlequin. If you like Girl Scout Cookies, then try OG Haze and The Purps. If you like Limonene Dream, then try Kalashnikov, Tropical Punch, Head Trip, and Holy Grail Kush/Holy Purple Grail. Get to know what sorts of feelings and effects work well for you, and then look for strains with similar ones. Every strain is different, but usually they share something major in common with multiple other ones. Also, remember that what is a sativa/hybrid/indica is elusive. You might not normally like indicas, but enjoy GDP or LA Chocolat for instance.
- Just to give you an idea of who I am, I'm someone who was born with a talent for this. It's best to think of me like you would a wine sommelier (I stole that from Paula).

Easygoing Balance

Sunflower Blue is a balanced head and body CBD strain, like Kashmir Gold, Honeydew Kush, Dreamsicle Skunk, and CBD Blue Shark. All of them are good for regular use, help with stress, and are good for physical pain. While the other three from Abatin have the pressurizing effect that feels like your head is coming together ("compressing"), Sunflower Blue, like Apelles' CBD Blue Shark, has the more common behind the eyes pressurizing feeling ("pinching"), which makes it more useful for mixing. If you don't like the 7:11 THC:CBD ratio, you can create your own. This ratio, though, is good for the day, and getting work done.

Numb Body

Sunflower Black has a light amount of the not so common headband effect, which provides it with an indica feel. Being that it is Caryophyllene dominant, there is a strong body effect and it's great for pain. I would recommend it in particular to those who favor indicas and like body effects.

Potency = 9.5

Effects = some compacting, some head numbing, and body numbing

Ideal for: great for physical pain, some help with physical brain conditions, and some help with stress

Mixes seamlessly with: Medijuana, Goji OG, Northeast OG, Purple Trainwreck, Midnight Skunk, Green Funk, Blueberry Headband, The (Classic) Purps, Lost Coast Hashplant, Apple Turnover, Old Amsterdam, Berry Bomb, Merry 'n Berry, Fuel OG, and Ed Rosenthal

Light Body Coffee

Sunflower Yellow is the first coffee strain in DC with a significant body effect. It's a lighter coffee, like Kolossus, with some mood elevation, like Shackzilla (though it has a different mood elevating feeling). It has got a lot going for it, and I didn't even mention it tastes like a lemon.

Potency = 9.5

Effects = some energizing, elevating, and head and body numbing

Ideal for: ADHD, fibromyalgia, physical pain, physical head conditions, and some mood elevation

Mixes seamlessly with: Kashmir Red, Kashmir Black, *Sunflower Green, Chocolope, KushZilla, Gorilla Glue #4, New Jack City, Purple Trainwreck, (Classic) Bubba Kush, Bubbalicious, The Overnight Scenario, Northeast OG, Goji OG, Fruity Pebbles OG, MediHaze, Lemon Cookies, Snowman, Shackzilla, Kolossus, Heavy Duty Frutti, CBD Blue Shark, Buffalo Soldier, Amnesia Haze, AK-47, Ed Rosenthal, Green Punch, and It Was All A Dream

Snowman

White Insomnia

Snowman is quite similar to Chocolope. It's in what I call the coffee strain family, which also includes Shackzilla and Kolossus. These strains are good for ADHD and fibromyalgia. I personally like having them after I eat. In comparison to Chocolope, Snowman isn't quite as strong, but there is more of a focus on the energy aspect. It really gives you a kick start.

Potency = 9

Effects = energizing, some pinching, and some head numbing and some body numbing

Ideal for: ADHD, fibromyalgia, some help with physical brain conditions, and some help with physical pain

Mixes best with: REM, Black, Red, LA Chocolat, Chocolope, Sunflower Green, Holy Grail Kush, Facewreck Haze, KushZilla, Blue, Kalashnikov, Gorilla Glue #4, New Jack City, District Dream, (Classic) Bubba Kush, Bubbalicious, Purple Trainwreck, Goji OG, Northeast OG, Sun, Fruity Pebbles OG, MediHaze, CBD Blue Shark, Kolossus, Heavy Duti Frutti, Shackzilla, Tropical Punch, Merry 'n Berry, Amnesia Haze, Ed Rosenthal, Green Punch, and It Was All A Dream

Clear Vibe

Sunflower Green has a nice vibe to it, and a clear headed feeling (which appears to be a hallmark of Ocimene-we've seen it before with Kashmir Red). It feels more like a sativa than I suspect it is. In that way, it reminds me of Granddaddy Purple. It's a great hybrid for regular use.

Potency = 9.75

Effects = some elevating, some pinching, and head and body numbing

Ideal for: allergies, sinusitis, good for physical head conditions, good for physical pain, some help with stress, and a low level mood elevator

Sunset Sherbet

Indica Cloud

Sunset (Sherbet) is a heavier version of Girl Scout Cookies. The pressurizing effect becomes a more pronounced aspect. What you get is something significantly more indica than GSC, but not that much more drowsy. It's great if you are looking for something that feels very indica, but that won't knock you out necessarily. In the place where they grow the best cannabis in the world, they like to up the indica without the relaxing. If you aren't use to indicas, though, Sunset Sherbet could tire you out. It is more for those who are partial to the indicas.

Potency = 9.25

Effects = pinching, some relaxing (slightly drowsy), some numbing, and body numbing

The Indica Sativa

Phyto chose well with Facewreck Haze. It has fantastic potency, and it helps medical patients on multiple levels. There is a light feel good feeling mixed in with a full body relaxation. Even though it is more sativa, the indica aspect is quite pronounced. This makes it the LA Chocolat of the opposite perspective. It is a great sativa leaner for those that prefer indicas (or a great indica type for those that prefer sativas), and it can be used at any time of day.

A Lighter Heady Strain

Kalashnikov is a lighter version of the especially heady strains, that have contrasting effects. It has a peppiness to it, but it also feels like it is a little more on the indica side. It would be good for adding some spiciness (effects wise) to other strains. You can mix it with most strains.

Complex Indica

Purple Pineapple Kush has a great aroma, which comes through in the taste. The feeling is foggy, and relaxing, while not being that tiring. Physical Realization

It has been a long time since I've reviewed MediHaze, and as I have been getting better with explaining strains, Holistic has been improving this medically valuable one, which is good for maintaining focus, but not optimal for activity (Harlequin would be a better choice for being active). It has a very high amount of CBD, which can be used to counter the negative effects that come with regular THC use. Like the clear, it hits clean. It's also a strong concentrate that is really easy to use. Comparing it to the clear, it's slightly less strong, a bit less clean, and a little more easy to handle. It's a matter of what you want to prioritize. There are differences, but they are minor. Comparing it to the rosin, you don't need to scoop in as much, and it's significantly more clean. Black Diamonds

Mellow Hybrid

Abatin's pride in their quality, which is something to be admired, has led them to put the small buds from Kashmir and top-shelf Classics aside into their own product. The Diamonds, as Abatin explains, are titled as such because of their value. While not as aesthetically pleasing, the small buds are almost as good as the big ones. Black Diamonds is what's left over from the mellow, earthy Kashmir Black, that is calming but not tiring.

Potency = 9.75

Effects = pinching, plus head and body numbing

Sun Diamonds lifts you up with a clear head. It's body effect is subtle but significant, and this makes it a more calm sativa. With Sun, Red, and Limonene Dream, Abatin has given us a unique line of sativas. They are more heady but still have a strong body effect. Those with physical pain, who want to use sativas yet still feel fully affected in the head, will especially appreciate them. Sun is the most euphoric of the three.

Full-On Relaxation

Classic is a very nice mix of classic indica effects that flow well together in both the head and the body.

Effects = some pinching, some compressing, relaxing (drowsy), head and body numbing, nerve stiffening

The head effect is a bit stronger than the body one. Overall, it isn't too far on the indica side where it will totally knock you out, if you are use to indicas. Remember that this concentrate builds up, and so you can easily overdo it. Most patients will only need two pulls. Those that have a high tolerance should add extra cautiously. The Classic cartridge is widely usable, with it being good for physical brain conditions, physical pain, and insomnia. Balanced is better for physical pain, but not by much.

  • Reviewed 11/7/16

The Convenient Medicine

It's absolutely awesome to see Abatin bring pure cartridges to D.C. These things are extremely strong, and take only a couple minutes to use. They are the ideal convergence of convenience and relief. All you need is a couple good hits. You should take long pulls (the red light at the bottom will flash when it's time to stop with Takoma's vaporizer), and then breathe it all the way in. It hits you hard right away, but also builds up. Balanced is a balanced body and head strain as the name implies, which makes it fine for daytime use, but be aware of its power. Just one puff too much can cause you to lose focus.

Balanced effects = numbing, pinching, some compressing, some relaxing, body relaxing, some nerve vibrations, and some muscle stretching

There is a lot going on with these mixes, but it works. The combination of head effects here comes together as a sort of stunned, numbed feeling, and the opposing nature of some of the body effects makes it the body version of the especially heady hybrids like Holy Grail Kush. That latter strong effect means it's excellent for physical pain, and it will also work well for physical head conditions.

*Abatin says there are 100 pulls in one of their containers. Based on how much it has gone down from my use so far, I would say there are well over that amount; and, with how little you need for each session, I think it's definitely worth it for the price.

In one respect, Kashmir Black #3 is a way to get that earthy Bubba Kush feeling without getting too tired. If you're not someone who can use any type of indica regularly, but you enjoy some of what they have to offer, hybrids like this one could be a good choice. There is a body effect from the indica side, and a calm middle of the road head feeling, but nothing that draining. Like Kashmir Gold, it does have significant head and body effects, but it is slightly more heady. Kashmir Gold (SALE)

Out of Body Experience

This is the first strain I've tried in the Kashmir line, and it's a thing of beauty. It has frosty buds that are very sticky and dense, with an overpowering smell. You can taste the high level of terpenes, which is like an oily feeling. It also breaks up very nicely.

I'd like to take an opportunity to address low THC content. There is a widely spread myth-to the point where it is not only in a lot of the articles about marijuana as if it is a fact, but also supposed "scientific" sources that have then spread to information hubs such as Wikipedia-that THC is mainly responsible for the psychoactive aspects of marijuana. There is simply not the research to back up this claim, and I can tell you I'm 100% sure that it is false. There are hundreds of compounds in marijuana. Looking at only the THC as well as the CBD contents doesn't tell you much. I actually only pay much attention to the latter.

If you examine the amounts of THC in various strains grown in D.C., it is in no way an indicator of potency. When you look at the ones that are particularly low, like Kashmir Gold, there is a high CBD amount. This is due to how they decide to breed them. What you find with most of these is that there is a balance of head and body effects. However, these aren't the only ones like that-Ed Rosenthal and Sweet Cream for instance fall into this category, but they don't have much CBD. Ed Rosenthal is a popular strain, which leads me to believe that these low THC/high CBD strains would be more commonly used by patients if they understood what they were getting. It's a category that is more likely to treat your medical condition. If you are just looking for a head buzz, then they aren't for you; but if you like body effects, then they are. Don't think that just because this has less THC (and CBD for that matter) than MediHaze that you are getting less out of it. You aren't. MediHaze actually falls into another category of strains, with Harlequin, CBD Critical Cure, and Green Skunk, where the body effect is stronger than the head one. Those are good for maintaining maximum focus while still finding relief. The balanced head and body effects strains are also great medically and can be consistently used. The Kashmir line isn't guaranteed to be the absolute strongest, because ultimately the strain is still the strain. Kashmir Gold, though, does have very good strength, and the oily Kashmir buds hit you quickly and intensely.

Cartridges are Inefficient

While vaporizing marijuana is the best method, the cartridges are not a good way to go about it. Every time you use them you are heating up the entire contents, which means that you are wasting a not unsubstantial amount. Additionally, this isn't an actual concentrate-it is mixed with glycerin. You will never get the full effect from vaping these. Takoma Wellness Center is the only dispensary that sells true concentrates, with the CO2 wax, and that is a much more efficient means for the patient.

Mixed Strains Crumble

Stay Afloat

The CO2 extracts set Takoma Wellness Center apart from any other dispensary in DC. It is at the front line of medical marijuana. Nothing will give you the absolute satisfaction that a concentrate does, and is a must try for any regular patient.

They should either be used in a bong specifically made for extracts and lit by a handheld torch, or in a vaporizer made for them, or in one that has an attachment for it. No matter which you choose, you are suppose to inhale for a considerable amount of time and then breathe it in. It will hit you hard right away, and the effects will last a long time. You could have one wax session and be good for the night.
