I have been using the v.2 for over a month now and want to share some observations in the hope of eliciting input from someone with a more technical knowledge of electronics. While I still had my v.1, I wound up filling a couple of cartridges that seemed to defy all efforts to produce vapor. The cartridges were checked before loading, primed frequently, and the concentrates included various waxes, putties, oils of a high quality. I had some suspicions that the issue was insufficient temperature to reach vaporization of the particular concentrate though most other carts worked just fine. I found that the v.2 batteries seemed to produce a somewhat higher temperature at full charge (bigger clouds), but that this began to drop off much more quickly, i.e. after no more than 20 8-10 second pulls. The batteries became fully effective again after recharging, but really seemed limited in storage capacity even though I measured 3.7 volts or more with a multimeter at both full and reduced charges. Just for the hell of it I just purchased a couple of Trustfire 14650 1600mah batteries to replace the standard 1000mah issue and these are working like a champ! Even the carts that defied vaporization in my v.1 now work like the rest. Something seems to be up here, not suggesting any kind of design flaw but something related to the practical operating temperature of the device at different states of charge? Anyone have any comments or experiences to share?

yes, ive notice the same thing.... ive had trouble vaping high quality water extract with the o-phos, as the battery would automatically shut down after 6-7sec... but with the v2, i can hold the button for awhile, and it has no problem vaping my bubble hash, but as the battery charge goes down, it produces less vapor.... i guess ill have to try the 14650 battery

It's not designed for bubble hash, you need to use something that will fully liquify with no plant matter in it.

No idea on the battery issue first mentioned. There is a 7.4v mod for the v2 coming soon making it a mini Persei. I would look in to getting IMR batteries for all setups.

Here are some readings that I took yesterday, using an aftermarket 1600 mah battery on the same cart : voltage at full charge read 4.17v. and, when it first noticeably deteriorated in performance, at 3.74v. My guess is that the heating temperature at the cartridge is voltage-sensitive in very small increments...

it does almost fully liquify as there is little, to no plant matter in it...
im looking for some new batteries that will outperform the 14650 3.7 1000mAh batteries that came with the v2... can someone tell me if i should buy batteries with greater mAh or lesser?

ive found several batteries id like buy, can someone give me some suggestions,

The 14650 designation represents the physical size of the battery, while it comes in various capacities (maH). The others previously mentioned won't fit.

so im guessing the 14650 1600mAh would better than the 1000mAh right?

do u think 2 of these would work in the v2? : http://www.madvapes.com/Protected-14250-Battery-350-mAh_p_2124.html
its the same size as the ones in the hvd upgrade.... and im assuming i wouldnt need the spacers as these have nipple tops

mAh is the lifespan of a charge. The higher the mAh the less charging. I'm not sure if it effects anything else.

so u said the 1600 mAh worked like a champ, do u mean ure getting higher temps easily/faster, or u just get more higher temps pull from the 1600 mah than the 1000 mAh?

needs less charging means the charge stays/lasts longer right?

Yes, only voltage will provide bigger hits, not mAh. mAh is the charge life.

@drumtalk - Where do you purchase the 14650?

I've made some additional measurements, this time of the 14650 batteries that are shipped with the v.2. The before and after voltages read essentially the same as for the Trustfire aftermarkets (1600 mAH), so it appears that the differences are in the length of use per charge. I am getting many, many more decent hits from a 1600 mAH than from the original 1000 mAH IMR. With the exception of what appears to be fewer hits per charge, however, the v.2 has it hands down as far as build quality and probable longevity. The only thing I can wish for is a calibrated, variable voltage top for the v.2 similar to what is coming for the Persei, or some means of voltage regulation to keep the output closer to 4.2 volts throughout the period of use.

Oh yeah, I bought the batteries on eBay--$8.98 for two, with free shipping, from China. Took about ten days to get here, but worth having a few spares on hand.

@ Drumtalking

Would you kindly post a link to the battery retailer you purchased the batteries at? Thanks!

Yeah, lots of people usually go through e cig sites or actually battery companies/websites. Batteries are a thing on eBay that may say something and perform a different way. Had a bad experience with phone batteries bought from china on eBay. Just by the real name brand ones everyone else uses, they are proven to perform.
