True to its description on the card in the display case, this beautiful little indica bud is a potent bronchodilator. Or in plain English, this will open up your lungs and sinuses. This was EXACTLY what I needed as i had been fighting off the grips of a cold for a couple of days. Within a few minutes of sampling my beautiful purple diamonds, my congestion was cleared, and my airways felt incredibly clear. While Purple Diamonds happens to be quite relaxing, it didn't put me to sleep. It's more of a clear-headed, warm-bodied calm. This morning, I combined this in equal measure with some of the Sun Diamonds and the experience was full-bodied, euphoric, and motivational. Muscle aches-eased, airways and head clear, and definitely ready to eat. :-)

light and happy
There wasn't much in the way of fragrance or taste with this one, and buds were fluffy. I decided to give it a try. The effects were light, happy, and uplifting. It provided a nice little social buzz. Honestly, I'd like to try a different batch in the future. Definitely had better, but not really complaining. I'd try blending this with something that has a bit more body. I added some Purple Trainwreck to round this out a bit more.

This was an absolutely gorgeous flower underneath the microscope at Takoma Wellness. Beautiful orange hairs dancing on the frosted buds. I got this home and smoked it from my bubbler. The taste is very sweet and fruity, true to it's name. What I was not prepared for, however, was how sleepy and euphoric this made me. This one comes on quickly and strong. Within 20 minutes or so, I wanted to get in bed, curl up, and eat. Very relaxing, healing herb after a very stressful week. Don't plan on getting much done, however!

Fantastically strong medicine. Powerful body buzz and warming, head uplift were felt immediately on the first hit. Paired with a fruity taste, this is a great strain to use at the end of a stressful workday.

This is Blue Dream with a morning cup of coffee. Elevating, and illuminating. It retains just enough of that blue dream body buzz to give a bit of balance to this joyful variation on a theme. I suspect that's due to the dash of CBD present in this. Took care of my headache, and gave me a nice , stimulating, creative boost after a long day at work. I feel like this would be nice in social settings.

Very strong scent of oranges and diesel/petroleum. Taste reminds of orange hard candies. Effects are head-focused and energizing, but the indica side of this does kick in later on. So you might want to have a cup of coffee later if smoking this during the day.

Great daytime, functional medicine with a sweet taste. The buds in this batch are beautiful. Fat, dense, sticky, and nicely frosted. Fragrant of oranges, cream, and something floral. The effects are balanced between head and body and long-lasting. Very enjoyable.

Sweet and Sensual
Honeydew has an absolutely delicious fragrance of unmistakable sweet, fresh, green melon. A sweet taste lingers on the tongue after smoking this. However, the highlight for me was the balance of mild cerebral uplift and a very sensual, warming, body buzz. Excellent for anxiety or stress, as muscle tension relaxes and your mind turns towards happy and creative thoughts. This herb definitely melts away social anxiety. Great before snuggle time with a loved one.

High CBD Tangie
I'm was a fan of Tangie when I first started going to Takoma Wellness. It's a good, wake-up, morning strain. The aroma, true to it's name, is of tangerine and it has a nice, sweet, citrus flavor on the palate. In it's original form, it definitely brought out my creative side, and I found myself spending happy hours working on photography, and admiring visual details up-close.
That being said, a high CBD version of Tangie recently arrived at Takoma Wellness, about 20% THC , 12% CBD. After trying various high CBD strains, I'm finding that they may not be the best for my symptoms, as they tend to bring my mood down quite a bit. Not the best, for my depression. This version of Tangie left me with a slightly heavy feeling and a mild headache. Give this one a try though, as the high CBD will be great for certain patients.

Really not much to say about this one. It knocked me out. One hit...BAM...Goodnight.
Recommended activities to accompany this: Sleep. That's about all that's gonna happen.
Blends deliciously with Berry Bomb.

Maybe for blending?
Berry-O might be an ok introductory Sativa, as the effects seem to be very, very mild. Taste and aroma aren't really there with this one for me either. With so many choices now available at TWC, there are definitely better Sativas on offer. I've tried this strain on at least three different occasions and it just comes up short for me. I've tried this in tincture form, and it performs slightly better there. Just a little bit of an energy bump from this one.

This is a wonderfully uplifting, happy strain, but very quickly it numbs any rapid thinking you had. This is not the best strain for getting any work done, at least for me, as it is quite powerful and more numbing, rather than an energetic buzz. I might have to try this out in a more social setting to guage the difference. That being said, this is still a very enjoyable herb, and great for those who don't mind having their brain stop in its tracks for a a little while. Highlight of this herb? The smell and the taste. The name says Lemon Cookies, and that's exactly what you get. Delicious! Perfect for a weekend or happy hour after work :-)

What do peace and enlightenment taste like, you ask?
Like damp, honeyed, forest floor. dried berries, and wood-smoke drifting through the pines above your head.
That's all that you need to know about the first sensory experience of this masterwork from Abatin Wellness. Those sweet, earthy first puffs quickly expand to a golden, clear, head high that is blissfully absent of any anxiety/paranoia. This joyously meditative and enlightening smoke washed away my depression and anxiety. This one has some serious stamina, as once the warming body buzz rolled through my muscles and limbs, i stayed in this happy place for about 3 hours. Prepare for your senses to be enhanced with this one :) .
Suggested activities to accompany this fantastic herb: Meditation , Painting, anything creative for that matter, long walks, eating (food tasted glorious!), massage/snuggles/etc. :-) . If you struggle with depression, anxiety, managing stress, or creative/emotional blockages, this is stellar medicine to have on hand.

Tuesdays are my most difficult day. A day filled with meetings, and barely a moment to breath. It was a Tuesday evening that found me perusing the offerings at Takoma Wellness Center and I was introduced to Arcata. Arcata is another new offering from Abatin Wellness, a grower with some unique strains that have been on sale at TWC of late. Arcata is related to Trainwreck, and offers trainwreck's heady high, but with much lower CBD. Currently, it is only available pre-ground, but don't let that scare you away. It may not look pretty, but it's great medicine. First impression, this had a beautifully sharp citrus and sandalwood or cedar aroma on a very earthy base. I couldn't stop smelling it! I finally was able to pull myself away from the fragrance to grind this a bit more and pack my bowl. My experience? It's 3 hours later and I am still very nicely medicated. This is very potent herb. That Trainwreck head-rush hit me at the first inhale. By the second inhale, I was feeling the weight of my dreaded Tuesday slip away to be replaced by a rush of positive energy balanced with body relaxation. I have been having lower back problems, and Arcata took care of most of the pain and tension I was experiencing down there. After about 2 hours, I began to feel the indica side of this hybrid come forward. Arcata seems to be the perfect after work tonic for me. It puts a smile on my face, tastes great, blasts the stress right out of my head, and washes the tension from body. Keeps me buzzed, relaxed, and positive for a couple of hours, and then eases me to sleep gradually. Well done!

Relaxing and Refreshing
I think my favorite aspects of this strain are the fragrance and the taste. Upon opening the package, I'm immediately hit with the IPA-like scent of hoppy citrus, pine, and tropical passion fruit. That's a happy smell right there. Some of those same notes hit my palate on the first inhale. This time, more citrus zest. The taste alone was uplifting and put a smile on my face. I soon felt a warm relaxation grow from my core and radiate out my limbs, easing the tightness in my lower back considerably. I think this is a good afternoon strain, perhaps not the best for a workday as I found it a tad difficult to focus. This high CBD strain would be great for anyone suffering pain, stressful life-situations, or anxiety. A good one for the medicine cabinet. I won't say it's a personal favorite, as I prefer a bit more of a sativa high, but I think many would enjoy this zesty, green treat.

Getting Things Done
Buffalo Soldier. I found this to provide a nice, sweet smoke which was quickly followed by a clear-headed , sativa high. This was very focused, and calm. I was able to crank out some steady work on the computer. A very nice strain for a work day, as I'm not feeling much of a pronounced body effect, and no fatigue whatsoever. Nice to combine with some Blue Dream trim to round this out a bit.
- Reviewed 9/30/15
Wait. Are you SURE this is trim???
The effects of this latest batch of Blue Dream trim were immediate and surprisingly intense. Having smoked blue dream flowers just a few days ago, I can say that this trim (in my view) is somehow stronger. Perhaps these leaves had some extra bottom-of-the-jar kiefy goodness. I am enjoying this ride, and my anxiety and depression were obliterated by this. At $10 for gram, this is a no-brainer. The smoke itself was smooth and sweet. Really, a happy way to end a VERY long day.
This was also very nice when mixed with a bit of high-CBD Krypto. Thank you for the recommendation, Paula! I can feel the stress in my shoulders and back melting away LIKE-BUTTAH!

If Hildegard grew MJ...
After spending two, deeply meditative evenings with this lovely flower, I am convinced that Hildegard von Bingen (the 12th century German mystic, abbess, writer, botanist, doctor, and composer) would have grown this in her garden had she been afforded the opportunity. The woman who was known for her rapturous visions - from which she distilled some of the most soaring chants written during that time- surely would have appreciated all the qualities of this flower.
My love affair with this strain began with the first taste. A piney, resinous, head-clearing, bright smoke. Within minutes the sativa side made its presence known with a euphoric, shimmering head-buzz that immediately brought this former choirboy back to a very familiar head-space: The ringing, shining buzz that happens in your head when a perfectly-tuned choir's sound spins shimmering harmonics through a cathedral's arches. As you bathe in this golden euphoria, your body begins to relax and you forget the tensions of the day. Then feelings of calm, focus, and creativity hit. I can clearly see Hildegard sitting at her desk, writing down her visions, and creating beautiful music after a couple of puffs of this divine herb. Worthy of a Saint.
