Berkeley Patient's Care CollectiveSmall and fast
The Berkeley Patients' Care Collective is a small hole in the wall at the corner of Telegraph and Parker in Berkeley. It would be quite easy to miss if it weren't for the bouncers stationed outisde the door. The staff here is friendly and knowledgeable. The check-in process does not take long, as there generally aren't too many people here. After check-in you pass into a small back room which can probably only accomodate 4 customers at a time maximum. Their selection is proportional to the size of the store- small, yet stocked with quality medicine inlcuding true Jack Herr. They laos have an excellent assortment of edibles- the hash chocolates are quite lovely. The location is great for its porximity to the UC campus. If you're in Berkeley and in a bit of a rush, this is the place to go.

Harborside Health Center - OaklandThe Best in the Bay
Ok- I haven't been to all the dispensaries in the Bay Area, but if there's a better one than Harborside, I'd love to see it! Harborside has it all- the largest seletion of medications I've seen, friendly and knowledgeable staff, a beautiful location right on the Oakland harbor, and tons of opportunities for education/ physical therapy, massage, etc. The only issue is that as the best purveyor of fine medicine in the area, it is often quite crowded. Be prepared to spend at least 30 minutes here. Parking is also sometimes an issue. However, Harborside is completely worth the wait. When I step into Harborside I see the future of medicinal cannabis. They are true innovators!

MedithriveSwanky with superior customer service
The interior of Medithrive is surprisingly swanky, given its location in the heart of the Mission. I was not expecting to walk into a chill zen-like lounge and was happily surprised. The check-in process is swift and painless, and the employees are all extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Medithrive has an adequate menu of diverse top notch medicines. They also boast a small ofering of potent edibles. The product packaging resembles the swanky interior. First time visitors are given a free joint, which in my experience was filled with a heavy sleep-inducing indica strain.

Berkeley Patients GroupOften crowded, but top notch medicine
The Berkeley Patients Group is the best dispensary I've visited in the east bay other than Harborside. There is ample parking, and the check-in process is normally swift and painless. After check-in, there is often a line to enter into medicine room, which has another sitting line in which you slowly make your way to the front a la musical chairs. The best way to circumnavigate the wait (if there is one) is the express line. All you have to do is select your medicine from the overhead screen and tell the express employee what you want. You won't be able to select from a number of bags, but you can be in and out in 5-10 minutes. This place is also the only one I've seen where medicating is allowed inside the premises, although it doesn't seem like a comfortable place to do so.
My go-to
I love the Blue Dream, and am quite disappointed when the dispensary runs out. It is delicious and I feel quite alert and motivated when I medicate. It is perfect for biking/ hiking/ exploring as opposed to zoning out on the couch. I have to admit that I greatly prefer sativa to indica, but most sativa lovers I know also enjoy this fairly priced wonderful strain. I have also seen "All Star Blue Dream" for sale for $65/ eighth, but I feel no need to shell out the extra $25 given how happy regular Blue Dream makes me.
