Dispensary & Marijuana Reviews
- Reviewed 9/10/11
I had to add a little something on this bud after reading the last review. In fairness, it has to be pointed out that this is lower-priced, lower-shelf bud. It ain't top shelf quality - it's true. It reminds me of the stuff I would buy on the street before my meds were legal in Cali which my friends and I used to call, "Pretendica." We called it that because, as the previous reviewer correctly pointed out about Purple Trash, it smells and looks like a very good bud, but when you get it home it neither tastes nor is as potent as what you would expect. It was as if the mediocre bud was "pretending" to be better bud than it was. It does work, however - you just got a smoke a whole bowl as opposed to say a hit or two or three of upper shelf meds. And it's not really a head-high type of smoke - it's a sleepy, relaxing, munchy-inducing type of weed. Also, I too found the picture a bit odd as it did look like there were seed pods in it, but I didn't find any seeds in the gram I won from ECWC on Facebook. Overall, this bud would not be my choice but some people need this kind of med, and it's priced at $15/g. I do think "Pretendica" is a better name than "Purple Trash," though.

Gold Dust Woman
Wow. Love this stuff. It makes my beloved top shelf gram collection even stonier and not sleepier. I just take a pinch of something and then either toss it in the dust or sprinkle some on top and I'm on my way - brightens up any bowl. The budtender explained how it was made - something about freeze-drying - but I don't recall the rest right now... I would've guessed it was stronger on the Sativa side, but that's not what the sticky type says. The only drawback is the cheap little plastic container it comes in. The dust makes the sides of the cap stick so it's hard to pop the top off. They should definitely look into a solution to that problem. I have had to use my teeth and once got a lip full of the stuff. Not the way I had planned to ingest! Overall, it's a great little hash powder. I would certainly buy it again, minus that janky little plastic container.

27% THC. Did I mention that?
I'm not a big Indica buyer. I keep a gram or two on hand, just to help me sleep. However, reading that this Indica tests at 27% THC, I had to stop in and buy a gram. In fact, I didn't just "stop in." I actually planned and made a special trip just to get to try something that tested at 27%.
After the first hit, and what turned out to be the last hit for some time, I immediately felt the relaxation of my neck and shoulder muscles. This was surprisingly pleasant since I didn't actually realize how tense I was in the first place, until I relaxed. I was outdoors at the time, and I remember suddenly realizing how very beautiful the day was - the sunshine, the breeze, the lush summer foliage and flowers.
Yeah, it's like that. After one hit.
27% THC. Did I mention that?

Dispensary Review:Florin Wellness Center
Florin Wellness Center
I adore this place. Staff has always been laid back and friendly. It's got a nice open feel with easy to navigate rooms. They always have a great selection of buds, edibles and concentrates. In fact, it's probably the most consistently and diversely stocked and priced. I think it's the most prolific menu of the 8 or so dispensaries I've been to. They don't always have the best deals of the many dispensaries, but they often have great deals, so you have to watch the specials menu on their website.
I also have to say that on 4/20, Florin had the best goody bags and they had more supply. They didn't run out early in the day like other dispensaries who advertised great goody bags to gift and then ran out fairly early-on, or the ones that thought they were handing something out by offering barbecue or some sinchy nominal award or discount. I opened that little 420 bag and found a container with Shiva crystals in it, a large piece of medicated lemon cake, and some hemp wick. I'm thinking there was something else, but I can't recall - a joint, maybe? And then the budtender asked if I'd like a sativa or indica cone to top it all off. In addition, they put you in a raffle for some other special prizes. I liked Florin before that, but on 4/20, I think I fell in love. They really seem to value the patients who buy from them, and I like that so much.
Thank you FWC!
Super Jack 20% THC
When I saw the daily deal for $15/g, I had already been to another dispensary, but being a Jack-Lover, couldn't pass up this deal, so made a second trip out to Florin to snag a couple g's and I am so glad I did. Another yummy Jack cross to sprinkle some nice on your mind! The buds are kinda spindly long, sparse and fluffy. I ground up a dash of it and vaped as soon as I got home. The stuff really has a nice soury smoke flavor and smell. And at 20% THC you can't beat a gram for $15. If you like sativas and see this today, I recommend you run over and grab at least a gram before it gets bought up.

Dispensary Review:Fruitridge Health and Wellness Collective
Young & Modern
Fruitridge is near me, so I've probably been to this dispensary more than any other. It's also the prettiest dispensary I go to. It's newly remodeled with modern style furniture and a collage of the history of marijuana medicine. There are televisions to watch in the waiting room, water dispenser and magazines. The bud room is just as pretty, and can be found behind a gigantic glass door with their trademark nurse with med tray displayed on the fogged glass. Walk through to a clean looking little bud room with glass shelves and cases displaying everything available in an uncluttered fashion. I've generally found pretty good meds here, but the prices are sometimes on the high side for top shelf. The budtender staff are polite, but I've not found them to be very down-to-earth ,nor do they seem particularly interested in helping or engaging their customers. The coordinators in the waiting rooms that I have interacted with are usually pretty friendly, though.
FHWC has a newcomer deal and newcomer card which rewards you with a different deal for each of your next four visits. My favorite newcomer deal was the choice from the secret menu. The place is definitely worth checking out and is certainly a reliable source of good buds. They have a pretty good selection on lower priced buds, too, usually - like $20 - $35 1/8s, if you're looking for that range.
Before you go, check their website - they actually DO update their menu daily. I only wish they had more price drops and coupons and combo types of deals like so many of the other dispensaries do. Overall, though - it's a good dispensary with quality meds.
I still think they need to cap top shelf to at least $50, but I'm digging the new Free 1/8th Saturdays and as always, love Free Edible Friday, so I thought I'd give it that shout out. Also - got a nice quality gram for free using a StickyGuide coupon.

As soon as I saw these buds I knew we were gonna be friends - beautiful web of red hairs drapes it, very fragrant sour smell. Wonderful sativa high - light, calm, happy, optimistic. And I see why it's called YUM-bolt because it's a tasty sour sorta smoke. The budtender pointed out that the smell was similar to that of J1 because it is also crossed with Jack. I love Jack. Jack is my BFF. If you're like me and are always ready to give Jack some quality time - try this kind Yumbolt 47 bud.

It's a gas, gas, gas
"I was born in a cross-fire hurricane
And I howled at my ma in the driving rain,
But it's all right now, in fact, it's a gas!
But it's all right. I'm Jumpin' Jack Flash,
It's a Gas! Gas! Gas! "
So the prophets fortold of this laffy taffy of sativa. At 20% THC, i don't suppose I need to say much. It's not a sleepy weepy bud - its a fun, active, happy sorta smoke. It smells nice and it sticks if you squeeze it. Try it.
Another fine 20% THC top shelf sativa bud from ECWCC. I keep saying the same things about the meds I like, because I like em like that - happy not lazy, cerebral, relaxed not comatose. I'm partial to chems, but then again, I'm partial to a lot of non-Chems too. I'm just partial to good medicine and this is some good medicine. Typical chem and very potent strain.

How do you say, "Kickass Bud" in Navi?
I bought 2 other top shelf PR strains along with a gram of Avatar. I still have all three, but find myself continually coming back to the Avatar. The stuff smells and tastes like a heady flower - delicious - reminds me of Lavender - the bud and the flower. I first dipped in with a fellow patient and we found ourselves too busy chatting and laughing to notice that we stopped smoking after two hits. The stuff gives such a nice mellow but happy feel without making you lazy, though it may make you fat since it really makes you crave yummy snacks. I stayed medicated for hours, was able to function throughout the day, and did not burn out at the end. I am medicated with Avatar OG Kush as I write this. ;-) This is now one of my favorite buds as well as one of my favorite movies. Avatar OG Kush, I see you.

Dispensary Review:El Camino Wellness Center Collective
El Cami-Know Well, Well, Wellness Center
I finally made my way over to El Camino WC after seeing the latest ad in SNR. It's tucked back in a side street of El Camino near the freeway. It does look like you're entering a lot that's for a landscaping company only and not shared with ECWCC when you first arrive, but I found the place pretty easily, and in fact, I appreciate its discrete location. It is probably the most pleasant dispensary I've been to - the staff were all smiles - even the security guard. They remembered new patients' first names and made us feel comfortable. Inside, the dispensary has a very open and bright feel - Waiting room and bud room are not separated by walls and windows let natural light in. After they verify you they give you a monthly calendar - cooking and growing classes, music therapy night, massage days are scheduled regularly - and they give you a helpful booklet on medicating with marijuana and the various methods one can use, the effects it may have, etc.
The man behind the bar was ready to talk about whatever I wanted, and prompted me with his own questions - Was I new? Did I know what types of bud I preferred? And I felt comfortable answering honestly and asking about things that I would've felt "uncool" asking about in other dispensaries I've been to. He showed me examples of the best buds from each pricing tier. He explained that "clean green" was the medical pot community's equivalent to "certified organic" in the supermarket produce section. He explained that the pricing tiers were really based on what the grower charged them - if they charged ECWC less, their patients paid less. And the fact that all the meds have THC ratings really helped me to decide what I would want in each tier, and I have not been disappointed in my choices - in fact I've been truly impressed with the med quality. I truly enjoyed ECWC and will surely return.
Went back again and found the blond intake woman who was there this time to be much less friendly than the Asian girl, and a bit rude, to tell you the truth. Didn't realize that it was okay to approach the bud bar and when I asked her if I could, she answered as if annoyed. Made me feel less like I will want to drive out there for meds, or classes. Made me have to bring down my rating one star. Have had great budtenders, though - I can say that - knowledgeable and friendly guys - but with so many dispensaries in Sactown, it comes down to the little things in deciding where to purchase meds.
-------------------------------Update de la Update, 9/10/11--------------------------------------------------------------
Nobody's perfect. El Camino is the first to acknowledge that, and they have with regard to my previous update. Trekked in last night to claim a free gram I won from them on Facebook. This time all attitudes harkened back to my original review. Everyone was pleasant and polite. The budtenders AGAIN are awesome here. They recognized that I was the same person who had written this review and, on top of presenting with my free prize Facebook gram, I was granted a free top shelf Banana OG cone along with profuse apologies for the bit of negativity I encountered last visit. This dispensary truly considers its customers and listens to us by reading what we write about their services and products. ECWC understands that top shelf prices must be coupled with top shelf service in this saturated Sacramento market. And as yet, the approachable, pleasant and educated staff here top all other dispensaries I've been to. ECWC, you got yer star back. Thanks!

Dispensary Review:All About Wellness
Good Location, Bad Location
This is a good-side-of-average sort of dispensary. It's in a very convenient location - right next to Safeway, on a main Sacramento street. The problem is that the location isn't very discreet for the very same reasons. I hesitate to go because I work in the midtown area and wouldn't want any of my coworkers seeing me go in/out. Inside isn't too cute and is a bit cramped. Very small reception area, just as small waiting area, and 2 buying rooms that are only slightly bigger than that. The staff were friendly on my first visit - got the older, long-haired budtender guy - and the receptionist was all smiles. On my second visit, I got a younger blond budtender guy and he was not as friendly or conversational, but he measured up my buds just fine. I think the meds here are great. I've not been disappointed with the sativas they've recommended and thought The Cure was a lovely med. They gave me 10 or 15% off of my first purchase, and threw in a nice chubby Cure pre-roll. If their prices were lower, and it were winter - when it gets dark out earlier- I'd go here much more often. By the way, I think "Pussy Kush" is a great name. It's about a cat, right? Like maybe cat's love the smell of this weed more than catnip? That's not what it means? Oh! It means THAT?! Are you sure? Well then, as a lesbian, I have to say that "Pussy Kush" is not a great name, but is a FANTASTIC NAME.

Dispensary Review:One Love Wellness
psshu... "One to the front. Over."
Interesting place. First thing I noticed were the signs posted warning against people medicating on the lot. I understand that they can't allow that, but I thought the sign were a bit tacky. The first waiting room was okay. I didn't feel particularly welcomed by the staff. Not that they were rude - it's just that you get much friendlier service in most other dispensaries I've been to. (I'm not trying to whine - it's just that there are so many dispensaries that little things like that really tip the scale when choosing which of the many to go to.) I sat at a table with chairs for the usual wait on first visit while my recommendation was getting checked. Getting sent to the back was hilarious. Someone shoulder walky-talkied to the security guard up front that I could come back. I was sent down a long hallway at the end of which I could see a sort of den-like room with couches, an aquarium, and a coffee machine. I started to head through the door the bud is in and I was stopped by a second security guard who told me I needed to wait again - in the den room. Finally got into the room and found a friendly budtender who recommended a couple of things on my request and gave me my welcome package. Nice little bag with a grindtainer, joint, some One Love matches (?!), and a hash candy. I could forgive the tacky signage, walk-talky weirdness and not-so personable receptionist if the bud was good. Alas, it really wasn't that great. It pre-weighed and sealed in little baggies which weren't labeled as to the type it was (Sativa, indica, etc.). I had to play detective on Sticky Guide to figure out which gram I bough was which type. When I popped the bags open I was disappointed to find that the bud was all dry and crunchy, not like the display buds I had examined with the budtender. The pot works, but didn't seem to be as strong or fresh as buds I get at other, less weird places. As I was leaving, the den security guard walky-talkied back up to the first one, "One to the front..." I don't recall whether he actually said "Over" or if I just remember it that way because it's funny.
-------------------------------------------*Up One Star Update 9/16/11________________________
Stopped in for a second visit and while the wacky walkie-talkie game is still in play, I found a few improvements:
1)My budtender was cool and knew some stuff!
2) They now weigh the buds in front of you. My budtender even held the bud he was weighing up for me and showed me how nice it was under the light. (And by the way - I really like the low level light provided for inspecting the display buds under. Nice touch.)
3) I only had to wait in one room this time - the den-like one. It ain't the prettiest room (less is more), but they try. I think they should sell one of the weird statues and use the money to buy some new carpet and furniture. Or at least a throw rug to hide that dirty-looking entrance to the bud room. Oh - lemme stop gettin' all Martha Stewart on you!
Anyhoo - the staff are nice & the buds are better. Definitely worth a stop-in. I grant thee one more star which brings the grand total for One Love to 3 Stars.

OG for "oh, gee..."
The buds are dense and it smells great when you ask the fine folks at Medizen to show you the buds. The buds aren't all that pretty, but they smoke well - smooth lemony flavor, and you don't need much to do the job. I've been smoking this today, from 8:30 AM to now, 1:30 p.m. I am not tired. I have gotten a lot done already - transplanted some plants, fertilized all my garden plants, mended some clothes, cooked myself breakfast, lunch and did the dishes. In other words - it won't crash you out. I'm in a pleasant mood, no anxiety. Nice pot and definitely worth the $40 asking price for this strain. Don't let prices fool you. This is good bud.

The Ker-Clung Effect
Nice lemony flavor. The ker-clung effect after the first inhale. Had a nice bright energetic mood effect. No anixiety, no burn-out at comedown. It's a bit pricey, but you don't need much of it and a gram lasted me a while. Of course, I had a few grams of other buds, around at the time, as well. Would definitely buy again, though.
