Dispensary Review:

Grass Roots Collective

All in the family

So, I should start by saying that I'm a relatively new medical cannabis patient, so I haven't been to a ton of dispensaries in the city yet, probably only about 6, plus two delivery dispensaries. There's one other walk-in dispensary that I'm really into, but I'm here to talk about Grass Roots.

These guys do it all really well. The process of joining their collective was really fast and easy. I don't know if you are able to sign up online or not, I just went straight to the dispensary myself. A quick check of your i.d. and paperwork (have to have paperwork your first time), a verification of my recommendation, and I was ready to go.

You then grab a seat and wait for a free bud tender, and they've got menus to look over while you wait. There's a 15 min max on time that you can spend with a tender, which I thought was silly at first, but when it gets packed in there, it's nice that they try to keep things moving.

The menu is fantastic. Not only do they have a wide array of buds, ranging from as cheap as $25 an 8th (which, when I asked about the cheap stuff the tender was totally honest with me and told me that that weed is only worth $25 and eighth and not a penny more, which I thought was really cool, he wasn't trying to up-sell me, just let me know that those flowers were pretty weak-- I like honest answers to my questions) to $60, with a well organized and healthy selection of indicas, sativas and hybrids in each. As well, they've got a great selection of edibles, extracts, hash, kief, pre-rolls, and even shake that you can snag, hi low or medium. As mentioned in the other reviews, spend over $50 and get a 10% discount. And they're really cool about throwing in a gift pretty regularly, and who doesn't like free stuff!?

The tenders are all fairly knowledgeable about the product, although it does sometimes feel like I'm getting a generic description here and there. No worries, though, there's alot of bud to be up on there, and the strains are constantly rotating, so I imagine it's tough to know every little thing about what they have, and most tenders don't know as much as I would like them to. I've been working in the cultivation side of things for awhile, so a tender knowing where their bud comes from, how it was grown, and so on, appeals to me, and it's rarer than you might think.

The last time I went in, I grabbed a few flowers, but was looking for an edible that would peel my face off. The tender, who knows my name (a couple of them do, the ones that've seen me a few times, and this is so huge in my opinion) suggested this little lozenge that they sell for $7-- said it had the strongest hit on the menu. Well, he wasn't kidding. A solid six hours of flying, maybe more (it got me pretty baked and I kinda lost track of time), and they kicked down a second one for free!!

Anyway, if you're looking for a dispensary with a great staff, a great space, and great meds, look no further.

Pros:
-Friendly, knowledgeable staff
-Great menu with a wide array of prices and some of the best flowers around
-Comfy, welcoming atmosphere
-Quick verification, quick to get to the counter
-10% discount after $50 spent, plus they're always throwing in something for free

Cons:
-To be honest, the only con is the location, and it's not even that bad. Located near the corner of Polk and Post, it's next door to a crappy Hotie and is on the edge of the Loin, so some of the people milling around outside are a little... suspect. But the door guy is always good about making sure that you get out of there safely. I would just suggest putting your purchase away before you head out, in your bag or something. Anyway, a small con heavily outweighed by all the lovely pros :)

Dispensary Review:

Lifted Health & Wellness

indoor to your front door

Okay, so I've tried a few different delivery services in the area, and this one instantly became my favorite. Why, you might be asking yourself. I'm so glad you asked; allow me to elucidate.

First, I am oh-so American in that when I get a hankering for something, I want it and I want it now. A couple of the other services will only do next day or worse, but Lifted is always within the hour. On that same note, the website, aside from being pretty and easy to navigate, makes it totally painless and really quick to order. Literally, from the time I got on the site to the time I was a confirmed member with an order placed and a delivery on the way was 20 min, tops!! Even for an instant gratification whore like myself, this far exceeded my expectations.

Now, let's get down to brass tacks. The medicine was extremely solid. Great look and smell, great high. I tried the GDP (which was actually purple, shock of shocks, dunno how many times I've seen weed with purple in the name but no purple on the bud) and the Super Sour Diesel, and both were excellent, nice sized buds covered in sparkley trichomes. Initially, I was a little put off by how small the menu was, almost no edibles, but when the driver showed up and I asked about this, (the driver was great, btw, very low-key, professional and friendly, definitely knew his stuff about the product, AND he brought me free stuff too, so it was pretty much love at first site :)), he explained to me that the place has only just opened up!! In light of that, I think these guys are doing awesome! He assured me that they're working their butts off to get an edibles menu together and grow the strain list, so I'm looking forward to seeing this dispensary grow.

I'm super stoked to be a Lifted member, and would recommend to anyone looking for killer bud at a compassionate price to check these guys out!
