Become A Maryland Medical Marijuana Patient

Becoming a medical marijuana patient or caregiver is fairly straightforward, and lawful. Here are the three steps individuals must take:

STEP 1: REGISTER WITH THE MMCC
All expectant patients must register with the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission with their online form. This includes both minors and adults, as well as residents and nonresidents. The form is here.

The Commission has provided a Process Overview and Quick Reference Card as helpful tools for patients in advance of registering. Have a look.

STEP 2: FIND A DOCTOR & GET WRITTEN CERTIFICATION
Once an individual has registered with the Commission, it's time to find a provider. Patients must find a "Certified Provider" who has also registered with the Commission to obtain a "written certification." Medical marijuana can not be purchased with a written certification from an MMCC-registered provider. Certification lasts one calendar year.

STEP 3: VISIT A DISPENSARY & PURCHASE YOUR MEDICINE
Once you're registered, and your provider has issued written certification, you're ready to purchase cannabis. Refer to the list of pre-approved dispensaries to find one near you.
