i had gotten a 30lb garbage bag full of trim from a buddy of mine for free. it was ok sugar leaf but was dryed out in a garage. the extraction tube i used was a 60 gram tube ruffly. when i ran 2 cans of 5x refined tane thru it...and low heat purged it for a few hours. i have done this multiple time and the result always comes out the same. it stays in a very thick liquid state, a very dark golden color. no matter how much i whip it, or do anything to it, it wont turn into wax or even shatter, just a honey oil type of product...my question is, does some material or strains have a different outcome? it gets me very high, and works very good in my vape pen, but am i doing something wrong to get this kinda final product? also i have never heard anybody talk about cleaning out their glass extraction tubes...their is usually a little left over oil/residue that makes the stripped product stick to the sides...do i leave of clean it between runs?

What tane are you using?? Tane is a suffix and a common one so I can't give advice. Someone else has a blog post about making the wax... I'm a chronic pain patient and interested in the production of oil or wax so tell me the complete process please...I have gone as far as graduate level chemestry so I am sure I can help you produce wax or crackle wax. Thanks Rick Carew

Butane Honey Oil (BHO) extraction is an extremely dangerous activity. Butane is flammable, explosive and can potentially contain poisonous and harmful chemicals

there are 2 kinds of bubbles in bho. 1 being butane; larger bubbles and 2: co2 from deoxycarbolation. If you keep purging till all the bubbles stop you have fully deoxycarbolated it and it will never harden. you have also converted the thca to thc and then to undesirable cbg's.

when the big bubbles stop and all you have left are little bubbles that means its time to pull it out of the vacuum/ heat purge.

this will keep the good flavors as well as keep the desired chemicals intact.

i highly recommend studying the skunkfarm site. possible the best site for extracts on the web. http://skunkpharmresearch.com

most all people mess up their extracts by using too much heat for way too long.

First of all Fully decarbed material goes from delta 9 THCa to THC to CBN. not CBG.
and the BHO bubbles are butane and Carbon. Not C02. (CO2 is solventless and doesnt remain in oil, even if used for extraction...)

Second.
225 in a convection oven for a few hours is great for decarbing. You'll notice the oil may get a slight permy smell as it gets close to being finished. The large bubbles will stop when it is close, but I recommend leaving it for an hour longer.
With C02, the oil darkens slightly and becomes less sweet.
When we have decarbed in this way we were able to get .23 THCA 71% THC and .12 CBN
We've spent hours perfecting the method and we decarb about 2,000 grams of CO2 oil a week.
A perfect decarb!

We're building a spark free room for our BHO. be careful. We've had three botched BHO explosions in the Seattle areain the last 2 months resulting in death. It's not something that should be done without the proper precautions...

^ testing proves that butane can be properly removed without a full decarb.

Define "low heat". Also, the age old wisdom of garbage in garbage out. If you wouldnt roll up a joint and happily smoke the material your extracting...expect crappy results. In general if trim is outdoor and over 6 months old its trash from a extract standpoint (marketwise).
