has anyone tried the G-Pen vaporizer by Grenco Science. I already know about the other vape pens, and don't really care so much for them, as all my friends have one. I was just wondering about this pen, and if anyone can provide any feedback on it? thanks in advance

The "G pen" is basically a $5 e-cig cartridge called the EGO GIANTOMIZER, G PEN? get it? But once you take off the plastic cap it exposes the atomizer and you can pack it for oils/wax/full melt. Ive been using it for a while now and the ease of packing and effectiveness is great, but every now and then i get that plastic taste, so dont know how good that can be for your lungs though..

Thanks for being honest. It kinda works, but you will get a plastic taste. That's what I got out of it. I hit one at the high times cannabis cup and talked to someone I thought was the owner of the company. Dude just talked shit about other companies and tried to get me to buy his cheap e cig pen. I told him isn't this an atomizer with a wick? And he said no and gave me an explanation why it wasn't, but it really is.

If I don't feel like using the torch and titanium nail, or I'm away from home, I have the Atmos raw loaded with some wax. It's not made for wax, but you would think it was if you tried it. I have a chamber that's definitely been used a lot for over 2 weeks now and it doesn't seem to declining in performance. I have the Atmos thermo, it works great for pure gold and co2 oil, but I have thick wax and it can get stuck to the walls and be annoying. I have an omicron and I just can't stand those cartridges, you can't taste your oil or wax, have to deal with the filling part (I hate the idea of heating the oil up to hundreds of degrees with a lighter to fill when the people who made it put effort to keep the temp under 100) and I still don't get consistent hits from my omicron. I also have the thermovape revolution, it's alright but I hate the warm up times, inconsistent hits and the battery lasts 15 hits which isn't enough for me. The raw is nice for me, I don't have to mess with anything. Load a dab of wax on the coil, press the button and inhale vapor. No warm up times, no filling tool, priming ect. Consitent clouds, its easy you load a dab of wax press the button and get smoke. It's really been less stressful than a lot of other devices I've had. I may just have to try out the Persei, I just hate the idea of using those cartridges, but maybe the high voltage would change my mind about them.

Sorry for the long post, just thought I would explain myself.

Thanks for the lengthy reply Dave. I was hoping you would get into detail with what you have experimented with. I too feel the same way about the cartomizers with the slit design. You have to thin the oil or liquefy it by overheating in order to get it down the sides of the carromizer. Not ideal IMO.

It looks like gentlemans vape is coming out with one as well.

@thc I thought you had a patent? You should be able to go after them if you do. I was told your patent claim is bullshit and just wondering if you have a patent number on the original cartridges like you claimed?

From what I know, they dont have a patent for the cart, the manufacturers are the ones who patented their design, Omicron just an agreement to buy X amount of sets per month and they wouldnt sell the cartridge to someone else. But they are more than happy to design a new design based off the original cartridge with minor tweak so that it is not necessarily the same design. I talked to omicrons manufacturers back in January. they wouldve made me a 510 version of it if i had order 4000pcs minimum. I wasn't sure I wouldve have been able to move all those, i didnt want to get stuck so i never went through with it, but seeing how gentlemens brand and wacky willy are coming out with them, maybe i shouldve taken the dive but then again im not set up like those guys.

You were wise not to buy into those carts as the design is quite flawed. Maybe 6 months ago they were cool but a lot has transpired since then and now ........................ their appeal is only to the uninformed. There are much better options out there now and more come onto the market all the time.

Think whatever you want, that's your right. If telling the truth is being a hater than a hater I am. The only other portable on the market that I find to be legit is the ThermoVape. Cotton carts filled with PG is old tech, do you still use a floppy drive on your computers? The new rebranded e-cigs with "no cart" are available for 50% or more less than offered by the companys at wholesale.

Sorry for being honest......

I don't think dubs a hater, all those rebranded ecig companys are the worst, they talk like they invented it solely for cannabis when it's just modified e cig parts and they shouldnt even be mentioned in the same category as omicron or thermovape. Atleast omicrons original.

With the exception of a "slightly" modified cartridge, the Omicron is just as much an e-cig knockoff as anything else out there. The battery is a standard e-cig issued battery.

You are speaking of the first version Omicron. That model has been discontinued.

Yes, the battery was a standard e-cig on that model. Nobody ever tried to claim it wasn't. Yes, the cartridge looks like every other e-cig cart out there. It's what's hiding inside that makes the magic happen. No other cart on the market is like it. ThermoVape is the only other company that designed a cartridge to work with extracts.

Too much bitching and not enough vaping. Do you guys ever get to vape the oil or just bitch about filling and selling cartridges. I've never seen so much controversy over a GD smoking device.

@HeMan, spill the beans on your better options or might as well not say anything at all. It is a big world out there and that is why people people join internet forums. To share information with like-minded individuals.

I would like to see another option other than the Omicron, Wacky Willy, Gentlemansvape "SLIT" Design cartomizer.

It's not a cartridge, but really, the Atmos raw works wonders with wax, I don't care if it burns hot for bud. You throw .1 of wax, just like the thermovape and get huge hits. No cartridge to lose oil to, no counting hits until your battery dies. I understand this vape wasn't made for oil, but I've put a heating chamber through almost a month's worth of vaping, and it still works and I don't see why it would stop now. There's no draw technique, tricking the button, filling, priming, ect. Just put the wax on the coil, press the button and cough your ass off. That's my suggestion as a oil head.

This is my first post. I read a lot of bitching and lame weak arguements. So I came here to tell you what is up, and some of you have moron juice leaking out of your ears...Mainly the guy saying the ONLY thing on the market is some bullshit thermovape. No thats not true, in fact thats fucking stupid. I have spent the past few months and a lot of money buying every single e cig cartridge, dissecting destroying, modifying and rebuilding these. I started using an e cig to quit smoking cigarettes, people kept asking me if it was a hash pen like the dispensaries sell. I make my own oil so i didnt even know. So what you need to smoke hash oil, exactly like the g pen you have a few choices. The g pen is a CE2 clearomizer, you can find ce2s in many styles. The CE5 rebuildable is very similar and about the same price of 1.75 each. Some ce2s can be more expensive, like say the g pen for 22 dollars is 6 dollars for the ego-w tank (aka g pen tank but not sold by g pen) Ive never tried a pen made for smoking hash oil like the omnicrap, g pen, gentlemans...all had terrible reviews. Also the ce3s work, and may be better than the 2s. I did however before i discovered the ce2 after watching a g pen how to video and realized i HAD the same thing already, purchase the gentlemans brand carts. I would like to say if a gent vap rep ever strolls across this page. I would like to come take a steaming dump on your doorstep, complete garbage I had to heat 2 carts to try to retrieve my lost oil from their shit carts. So I hope I offended some asshole in california who is labling e cigs as hash pens and doubling the price off peoples lack of knowledge for something SO cheap.
The reason I came to tell people this is because assholes saying it cant be done, or you are melting plastic (thats just not true, if you hold it till the plastic melts you are doing something wrong). Or that you have to spend 90 dollars on a hash pen. Fact is the more people who use these the faster the technology changes.

I'm reading your argument, and you sound like someone who has no experience with these. You sound like me 18 months ago. The fact that your trying to defend those crappy pens and that you have never tried an omicron tells me everything. Once you try an omicron or a thermovape you won't even think about a g pen or any e cig cart except to laugh at it. You also probably don't even know anything about oil/wax, the g pen adds a plastic heater taste, it's there trust me.

I consider myself an oil connoisseur, I want to taste the bud it came from. I only smoke high quality wax and I would never expose an expensive concentrat like that on a cheap plastic e cig tank. All of those e cig cartomizers rebranded for hash oil use have that plastic heater taste, I can't stand it. Even the omicron has a slight taste, but the thermovape is as good as a titanium nail and better than any other pen I've tried, and I think I've tried them all. When I go through the amount of oil/wax I want something that is going to consistently work, taste good and be able to get the job done, which is hard for me because of a high tolerance. I'm sure somebody who smokes bud can melt some b grade oil in a ce3 cart and hopefully get enough wicked up to replace the glycerine soaked wick, that also messes up the taste. If you can get some oil to vape in those it's surely going to work, to a certain extent. Like I said it will work for some, those who don't care for good tasting oil/wax and probably don't have the tolerance or experience to care.

Not trying to get my head ripped off, as a lot of you seemed very heated over this topic.. And I know it has been 20 days since the last post..

But I thought I would add to the post as I felt this is a good topic and can still help a lot of people who are investigating the pens.

First of all, a lot of people are right about the plastic taste and dislike of the tank. I own a G-Pen and completely agree. The wick system, I feel, is a shitty idea. I do like all of the accessories and etc that Grenco offers though.

I feel 90% of the stories I have heard of them breaking is simply mis-use. I have had no problems with mine, I smoke it all day every day. Battery ran out once after a day (forgot to charge it over night and it died the next day, worked again within an hour).

The last point I need to make, is the upcoming Glass Tank that Grenco is releasing Sep. 4th... It replaces the outside casing with glass and replaces the wick system with a titanium nail built inside. The nail heats very hot at the bowl for fat dabs, and vapes the oils that go to the bottom slower.

Check it out: http://grencoscience.com/shop/glasstank/

Welcome to the forum Trevor!

Use whatever works for you, that's the beauty of freedom! Some people lie on here to get sales. The truth is that a "G-Tank" is actually an e-cig part. The wicks are for glycerine tinctures, obviously wax won't go up the tank when melted. The downfall in my eyes is having to carry your concentrate and a tool to fill each dab taken. The other downfall is that they sell the tank for $20 when you can order them as a ego-w and they are suddenly $2. Anyone who wants to sell 80% of the "portable vaporizers" on the market could do so by ordering through an e-cig website and getting them branded. Have you seen the new Atmos A-Pen? They all sell the same stuff!

I have been labeled a hater by some for telling people the truth. Feel free to google it yourself if you don't care to believe me.

All of these vape pen products that you see flooding the cannabis market were either originally designed for e-cig use and then the carts slightly modified to accept oils or flowers ................... or in most cases they ARE INDEED e-cig units that people are trying to pass off as vape pens for cannabis. The Ce4 glass cart is an example of this. Designed for e-cig juice but can be also used for oils.

To answer your question though ............ the battery on a G-en is the industry standard ego/501 e-cig battery invented by Joyetech and copied by everyone. If you want to use the G-Pen for e-cig juice, simply buy empty carts from any e-cig web seller and vape away. Just make sure you buy a cart that'll fit the ego/501 battery. The Ce4 would fit the bill

Hi all, nub here but I can relate.
I have had that break happen a dozen (or more) times myself. If you are extremely careful, it is possible to get it back together and working properly, Watch for any shorts in the circuit while reassembling, it is easy to do and it will compound the current problem. The switch button is also a little tricky to get back in. I have only been successful in about half of my attempts. Good luck., IMO buy a new one as chances are always increasing that it will happen again.

Grenco's vaporizers are garbage ~ Plain and simple ~ DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
It is exactly like one previous post suggested, - a cheap e-cig clone that these guys are selling for $75.
Furthermore, if you're not happy with their product, they will not give you a refund but instead offer you store credit to
buy another one of their crappy products. It is my goal to rid Colorado of Grenco pens based on the fact that they
truly suck, break extremely easily and are not as well made as other vape pen companies.

BUY OPEN VAPE OR ANOTHER BRAND ~ Do NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH GRENCO!

I agree the gpen is not that great of a product. I had one that lasted for almost a month and basically broke down. I tried contacting the manufacturer grenco science and got the run around. Just as mentioned a lot of the vape pens are the same principle but different companies making them. The cloud pen is another one I tried but wasnt too impressed with either overtime it started giving me the same problems. The only pen I have been a fan of is the atmos raw. it was originally designed for flowers but is capable of being used for other concentrates such as wax and oil if maintained properly. Got mine over at dtxvapes.com for a great deal. Think i paid about a bill for it and use it all the time. It retails for almost 200 but the price match if you just give them a call or email them. Im going on 7 months with mine and it is still working like a champ. It has been used for flowers and concentrates. Luckily when i bought i got the green one which came with an additional cartridge for the same price so one is for flowers and keep the other for concentrates. As i mentioned so far I have been very happy will let u guys know when it breaks down since they all do over a matter of time.

so all i have read on this post is complaints on all of the pens... I came here wondering which vape pen is best for dabs, but can also be used for glycerin (E-cig juice)? I have concluded that the g pen and the omicron v2 are not up for debate, but I am open to other options. I currently have the cloud pen 2.0 which works well for dabs, but i want to upgrade and have the option for glycerin use.
