I'm interested in trying a high CBD strain for chronic back pain. I'm hoping that a high CBD strain will help with the pain while allowing me to stay more alert. Anyone have a recommendation for a strain that has works for them?

Harlequin is one of the CBD-rich strains I've seen around the Bay Area recently. I've seen it at SPARC and Medithrive, and I believe Harborside Health in Oakland also offers it.

You should also checkout projectcbd.com, which has a lot of information on the science behind CBD-rich cannabis and suggested strains that are being provided by dispensaries.

I've heard that a strain called "Women's Collective Stinky Purple" is consistently high in CBD and is good to use in combination with other strains but I'm not sure where to find it.

I was going to suggest Harlequin from SPARC as well (though I have not tried it) or Black Domina from HopeNet.

Thanks for the advice. Think I'll give Harlequin a try.

Women's Collective Stinky Purple is another CBD rich strain to watch out for. I read in O'Shaughnessy's that there are 10 CBD rich strains to keep in mind...

I saw that SPARC now has something call Omrita. I don't know much about it, but they say it's 10% CBD. Anyone have experience with the Omrita? It's great to see the elevated interest in CBD-rich strains.

Those are all decent recommendations; although, for back pain...you dont just want high CBD, you want high quantities of roughly 8-10 other inactive cannabinoids (cannabis plants usually contain 60+ cannabinoids; although, THC, CBD, and CBN are the only ones folks really know about). Obvioulsy, you do not want high CBN...no bueno.

Here in Sac, we produce a strain and tinctures that contain extremely high amounts of a select group of OTHER cannabinoids that are considered "inactive." We put our cured flowers through a patented/proprietary treatment process that activates these other cannabinoids. Consuming a strain or tincture that is rich in these other activated cannabinoids will specifically target epidural and radicular neuropathies.

You want a strain that works on the back PAIN, yet lets you be alert, right? While most of the recommendations above are HEAVY Indicas, they are all likely to make you drowsy. Our strain is a Sativa/Indica hybrid with high CBD/THC and other cannabinoids (proprietary info). This strain is called "A4." It has extreme anti-inflammatory effects, almost perfect pain relief (for neuropathies), will ASSIST in sleep; however, will keep you well alert when you want to be. It is the breeding baby of my partner for 16 years...and trust me, it is simply great stuff!

You SHOULD be able to find A4 from Sac to Humbolt to Chico down to the Bay and south to LA. We have brokers that get this one out to as MANY collectives as possible. I recommend looking into various strains at www.cannagen.com

A4 is on the Cannapedia...basically a nice directory for strains on the cannagen website that gives info about the strain that is pertinent...also, you can read user comments. The link below is direct to the A4 review.

http://cannagen.com/cannapedia-strain-detail.php?sid=372

Best wishes on your hunt...keep in mind...its NOT always about the THC and CBD...there are dozens of other cannabinoids. The issue is: how do you find the strain that can TARGET your particular problems?

Btw, I've been seeing a lot more Harlequin around the Bay Area. Good to see more dispensaries stocking a high CBD selection.

CBD-rich edibles is a great idea that I hadn't considered. Being able to reduce the psychoactive effects of the medicine and consume it by eating instead of smoking makes this sort of medicine even more friendly to someone that is not a pot smoker. I have not seen CDB-rich edibles around San Francisco. Hopefully it makes it down here. Unity looks cool, btw.

I would love to try a high CBD edible but I haven't seen any in the Bay Area. I'll definitely stop by Unity next time I'm in Sacramento!

The edibles at Unity are great! If you get a chance definitely try them out.
