I'd heard that the way people were trying to legalize weed in Ohio was messed up, but I wasn't sure exactly how. After reading this article, I'm still not 100% clear but it seems like they're trying to legalize it but only let a few corporations grow it?

Is there anyone on here from Ohio that can clarify this a bit for me? I'm in CA so not immediately affected but I still feel like it's a good idea to know what's going on in case something similar starts to go down here.

I'm not in Ohio, but there is no way I would vote for a bill that specifically creates monopolies for those who wrote the ballot measure and makes it impossible for anyone else to get into the business. The lack of competition will drive prices up, limit market innovation and foster a greedy corporate atmosphere that is the antithesis of marijuana culture. It would break my heart to vote no for full on legalization, but the way the measure is written is dangerous to consumers and just lets the rich get richer.

I 100% agree! I hope that the voters of Ohio don't vote in a long-term mistake for a quick fix. They have monopoly problems up there. They had something similar go down with their casinos a few years ago. I was born in Ohio but didn't live there long. I have family that still live there so I hear a bit about the state's politics. It's sick that corporations want to exploit this right out of the gate but I guess that's to be expected of big businesses sadly.
