This ain’t your economics professor’s GDP. GDP, AKA Granddaddy Purple, AKA “The Grandfather,” debuted in 2003 as a cross between two great Indicas, Purple Urkle and Big Bud, and both parents show through in this phenotype. From Purple Urkle we get the nice purple color and the notoriously heavy-duty Indica high, while the Big Bud contributes its namesake large, dense buds, making GDP as much a pleasure to look at as it is to smoke. This is not the most purple batch we’ve ever seen but purple it definitely is, underneath a frosty layer of crystals. Sweet scents of grape and berry greet the nose, if that’s what you’re into (and how could you not be?), and the delicious smoke brings on a heavy-lidded, somewhat sedentary high that’s great for pain-relief, appetite stimulation, sleep induction, or just chillin’ out. Many consider this to be a legendary strain, so if you’re an Indica (wo)man this is not one to miss out on, and we’ve even heard it said that those who generally prefer Sativas find themselves enjoying GDP.
