A true connoisseurs sativa, Bwanana (Sweet Skunk x Maui Haze) is developing a cult following among Bay Area chronnoisseurs in part to its vintage skunky essence and soaring cerebral high. Reportedly bred out of the Bay Area in early 2000's, Bwanana started showing up at dispensaries regularly in late 2009 where it's become a mainstay at SPARC. Everything about Bwanana is a throw-back to the early skunk/haze hybrids that dominated the mid-90's, from the exotic bouquet, to the 'bright buzzing' high. Bwanana seems to strike a perfect balance of phenotypical characteristics that speak to both its haze and skunk ancestry. Many of the most revered european breeding projects of the 90's were based around melding together skunk and haze breeding lines, but few strains express their ancestry in such a raw and unadulterated form as Bwanana.
BOUQUET
At first whiff Bwanana gave me a profound sense of Deja Vu, sending my back to my earliest encounters with Sensi Seeds legendary NL#5 x Haze. Fresh out of the bag the flowers perfuse a spicy 'haze inspired' aroma hinting on incense and rotting fruit. Grind down some buds and out oozes Bwanana's full exotic skunky essence, with notes of sour apple candy, ripe apricot, and pungent body odor. The flower structure is very much a hybrid of its parents … loosely structured 'haze inspired' buds boasting brilliant orange pistols reminiscent of Skunk #1. The trichome patterns are patchy and abstract with tight clusters of milky trichomes running along the calyxes. Overall a beautiful flower that stands as a wonderful relic from the past.
FLAVOR
Bwanana's flavor is hazy mist on the inhale, skunky dankness on the exhale. The vapor featured an earthy essence with hints of pine forrest, ripe apricot, and menthol cough-rub. A few bags out of the ole' V-Tower Extreme and my whole house was overwhelmed by the aroma of road-kill skunk, burning wood, and dirty socks. When my brother arrived home from work he said "it smells like your burning animals" ... I thought "sweet, mission accomplished!" If you're ever interested in experiencing (or reliving) the signature flavor old school skunk bud, this one will give you a taste of the real McCoy.
THERAPEUTIC
Bwanana's fast-acting therapeutic effect is particularly effective for quickly elevating mood and relieving nausea. EFFECT
